Could someone look up this family for me please? They would have probably been in the southern part of Iowa. Samuel Rowell (b 1847) & wife Arina or Anna, children: Frank (b. 1870), Loretta (b. 1872), Mattie (b 1874), Florence (b 1876), Samuel (b 1879), George (b 1885), Bess (b. 1888), Bruce (b 1890).
I do not know if the 1860 census is available anywhere, but i am also looking for Samuel Sr.'s parents, Porter Rowell and Fidelia McCray. Porter died in 1851, and I think that Fidelia remarried in Wapello, Iowa in 1854 to a Thomas Kirkpatrick. So in 1860, Fidelia should be listed with her new husband, and her son, Samuel (at least). I have no idea if Samuel had any siblings.
Thanks to anyone in advance! Maria Barnhardt

WOW! Thank you so much! Now I know what happened to Fidelia, she has such a different name, you'd think she would be easy to track. That is exactly what i was looking for! Thanks again! Maria Barnhardt

Thanks so much for the previous lookup, it helped me out TONS! Now i am looking for 2 more? In the previous one, i listed Samuel Rowell and his wife Anna (Arina). In 1870 they should be in Lucas County, Iowa, I think. Their oldest son Frank was born there in 1870.
Also, in 1850 I am having a hard time finding Porter and Fidelia Rowell (Fidelia had remarried Thomas Kirkpatrick in 1854). In 1850 I believe they should be living in Iowa (not sure where) with at least 3 children: Loretta, William, and Samuel. I believe Iowa because the man who may be Porter's Father was in Iowa in 1850, but I may be wrong....
Thanks sooo much! Maria Barnhardt

Hello,

I'm afraid I didn't have as much success this time. I searched the 1870 Iowa census, in fact the entire U.S., and couldn't find Samuel Rowell listed. There were 10 Rowells that came up in the 1870 Iowa census, but none matching the age, place of birth, etc. I even searched by first name in case the last name had been misspelled.

The 1850 census that I have access to is not indexed by name, so I was unable to find Porter Rowell and family.

Best of luck,
Annaliese
