Need help in solving lineage on William Stephen Blackman. He was born in 1775 in Johnston County, North Carolina and died in 1835 in Saline County, Illinois. I've narrowed his father down to two brothers, Joseph and John Blackman III. This is the problem. Too many family trees pick one or the other with no definitive answer. Several trees are totally wrong as they show a John Blackman who died 15 years before William Stephen was born. This is John Blackman, Jr who was the father of Joseph and John III. If anyone can help with this please let's talk.

Do you know if your Blackman family was Quaker? If so the Quaker meeting records may help. Reason I ask is I tracked a known Quaker family from Wayne Co. NC(next to Johnston) into Indiana. Evidence indicated family attended the Neuse MM. Good luck.
