I am descended from Zachariah through his son Robert and spouse, Elizabeth Shepherd. Does anyone know where he is buried? We'll be visiting family in SW Virginia the first weekend of August and I'm hoping for a field trip. Are there any other Wells or Shepherd sites I should visit? Thanks in advance.

Might this be him?
If not check FindAGrave for other relatives. You never know what might turn
up.
I don't think I am from this line of Wells.

Hi, I am a Zach descendent through his son, Jeremiah. I grew up in Big Stone Gap, VA and now live just south of Washington, D.C. in Dumfries, VA. I spent a week in Sept 2012 at home, combing cemetaries all over Wise and Lee Co's, looking for Wells'. I found more than I count lebut now Zachariah. I was looking for Elizabeth Culbertson Wells, wife of Jeremiah who lived until 1858. I found one cemetary in Lee Co. I was told had several Wells' buried there but it was inaccessible. I am going back this summer with boots and try to get permission to go through some overgrown property to reach this cemetary. I found many descendents, according to ancestry.com, some buried in Riverside Cemetary in East Stone Gap, VA. whose names I recognized from my family tree. I will keep looking and let you know what I find.

I did not review my note. It should have read, "but not Zachariah".

I would be really interested to know how you have managed to get documented, sourced data that takes your Wells back to the 10th century. What country is this in?

I have the Wells line as far as Robert Wells 1484-1558. Ancestry family's believe he is the son of John Wells and Cecily Plantagenet, we all want this to be true but it is not. I have researched this connection for yrs. If anyone has proof otherwise please help solve this.
I plan to travel to England for information on Robert's parents. Zachariah is buried in a family grave in Wise co. Graves of revolutionary patriots of Va. How awesome it would be if someone could find him.
