I am looking for members of the 146th combat Army engineering battalion in WWII, which, I think, is part of the 1st. Army. Also family members who are willing to share pictures and stories they heard from relatives who served in the 146th. Am particularly interested in members of Company “A”. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
L. Nelson

Classification: Query
146TH Engr. combat Batt. Michigan National Guard was sent to Ireland and combined with 112th Engr."C" Batt. Ohio Nat. Guard to form 112th Engr. "C" Regiment. Add on the 149th
Engrs. and was in the 1171 Engr. Group. 7th Corps ?
Was used on D-day to support many landings on Omaha beach. Some elements were combined with 5th Rangers to form 116th Regimental Combat Team in an effort to lend support for the 2nd Rangers ( as best as I can understand ).
Most Engr. units are used as needed, from a squad to a company and not necessarily as a Battalion. Try looking up
1171 Engineer Group on a search engine and on from there.
Most Engr. outfits are mess to try to track.......Luck!
