John and Isabella were my grandparents. Isabella was Thompson. Does this help any? I know nothing of her family. They were married and lived in Kingston Ontario before coming west.

I am a descendant of John and Isabella... the following is quoted from the "Brewster's Mountain Lodge" website.
Before the Irish famine in the 1840’s, William Brewster managed the Irvine Estate in Irvine, Fernanagh, Erie. James Irvine, a friend & a doctor, had immigrated to Canada & encouraged his friend William to come to Canada. Sarah Jane Irvine followed her brother soon after to Kingston, ON. Here it was that Sarah Jane, an heiress to land holdings in Ireland, married the manager William Brewster, and while farming in Ontario raised eight children. John, the 5th born in 1852, married Isabella Thompson, farming until following the railroad west to Winnipeg where he worked in mill shops before coming to Banff. Isabella Brewster with her four sons, William, James, Fred & Jack arrived in Banff, AB via CP Rail from Winnipeg, MB on March 17, 1888 to join her husband John who had decided Banff would become their permanent home. George, Pearl (1st white baby girl), & F.O. Pat were born in Banff. John, on the advice of his brothers who had visited the mountains earlier, told him of the opportunities in the West, thus he started a dairy to service the Banff Springs hotel & the community. This was the start of a great adventure for the Brewster Family in Banff National Park.
I am the great-grandson of their son James, who left Banff and had a stopping house near what is now Bowden, Alberta. Hope this helps... it's interesting to know there you both exist!

This is a little ackward, I am your cousin from Kingston. Isabella Thompson was the child of Jane Donaldson and John Thompson, Jane was the child of William Donaldson & Catherine Scott from from the Breddie, Tyrone and Lisdillon, Londerry of what is now Londonderry. William had 8 children in total, one was John Donaldson, who fathered Robert Alexander Donaldson, who fathered Morris Maclean Donaldson, who fathered Arthur Morris-my father. One of the people who placed in a post regarding Jane & John Thompson was my cousin Jacq. Eden. I can send you a comprehensive family history, it is a series of family history sheets transcibed into PDF format. It covers 5 generations of family history. As well I can send you pictures from where William & Catherine lived in Ireland, as I lived in the UK for 2 yrs. My email address is markdonaldson73@hotmail.com

Isabella Thompson was the child of Jane Donaldson and John Thompson, Jane was the child of William Donaldson & Catherine Scott from from the Breddie, Tyrone and Lisdillon, Londerry of what is now Northern Ireland. I obtained a copy of Jane Donaldson/John Thompson's marriage certificate and a photocopy the ledger from the day of their wedding in 1849-both of which I can send to you. William had 8 children in total, one was John Donaldson, who fathered Robert Alexander Donaldson, who fathered Morris Maclean Donaldson, who fathered Arthur Morris-my father. Your not going to believe this, but just today I picked up a copy of the book The Brewster Family: from pack train to tour bus. A book I assume you are familiar with. Just a while ago I emailed Brewster Mountain lodge and forwarded a copy of the PDF file I mentioned. I can send it to you directly. My email address is markdonaldson73@hotmail.com. I look forward to hearing back from you soon! Cheers from Kingston.

William Donaldson/Catherine Scott-Lisdillon, County Derry Emigrated to Joyceville, Ontario(Kingston) in the early 1850s. Their first attempt at emigrating was halted when the ship they were sailing in sank. The second one did not sink and they arrived in the maritimes, Nova Scotia I think. They wintered there one season and came to Kingston. There was one relative, John Donaldson, who left Lisdillon, Derry in 1847.

There is an even closer connection between the Brewster & Donaldson clans of Joyceville. John Brewster's sister, Margerat, married my great-great-great uncle William Alexander Donaldson(1833-78) on 14 Feb 1861. Theyhad six children who all lived and died in the Joyceville area and buried in the Joyceville cemetary. The joyceville cemetary is at the back end of the property owned by William Donaldson. He donated for the cemetary and church that was built there.
