I have come upon some tax records that list Acash (W), and Issac Brigman (200 Acres) in Richmond County, NC in 1779. I also have a Joshua in 1806. I have done some pretty extensive research over the years and have acquired quite a lot of information, although I am still attempting to match who goes with whom. If any of you would have information on these people could you please contact me. My research began with my mother Theresa Diane Brigman...I have gone as far as what I believe to be her Great Great Great Grandfather Dr John Washington Strong Brigman...I am still matching children and some of the others but have come a long way. Sure is confusing..any help from anyone greatly appreciated.

I have a Joshua Brigman, b. abt 1750 in Anson/Surry Co., NC and brother to my gggg grandmother, Mary Bridgman b. 1755 NC d. 1823 AL. Their father was Thomas Brigman, b. abt 1730, d. b/f 7/13/1774, NC. His spouse is unknown by this researcher. Other children of Thomas were Isaac, William and Thomas.

I doubt seriously that I would be of much help to you on that family; however, considering that it could be the family of one of my gggg gmothers, I am interested in what you may have found and what we might share. I have some extended info on several siblings.

I am looking for info on an Ozias Bridgman who was in Hyde County, NC in 1860. There was a Thomas and William listed in the 1810 Census for the county. William was listed in 1850 Census but no mention of Ozias.

Ozias fathered a child by Zerlina/Salina Gibbs in March 1860. The child was my GGrandfather. He went by the name of Thomas Benette Gibbs.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Debbie,
I am descended from JWS Brigman, too, through his son Henry Allen. So far I have hit the wall and can not establish the parents of JWS Brigman. I notice you have had a reply from Terri, so I doubt there is much new info I can pass on that Terri has not already shared. She is the most knowledgable Brigman researcher I know. If you have any educated guesses or info on who you think parents of JWSB might be I would love to hear what you think. My email is

John Washington Strong Brigman was my great grandfather, one of his ten children, John Corbin Corbett Brigman was my grandfather who had one son (James Marshall Charles Brigman) and one daughter Janet Brigman. James had seven children (five from one marriage, two boys from a different mother, and one daughter from his first marriage.) When he married my mother he had three sons and three daughters. The youngest son is George Washing Earl Brigman.

I know that two of John Corbins sisters live in Roanoke Rapids and one died in 1988.

We know little else but names and only met our grandfather once as teenagers.
