Carol:

I was wondering if we are working on the same family tree. My gg grandfather was Wilson Y. Brumbelow born 1851 in Aragon Georgia and died in 1923 in Aragon Georgia. If so, I have a good bit of information that I will share

Is there a connection here? My line Joseph Harris and Nancy Metcalf were in Georgia and he died. She then married ---Brumbalow (perhaps a cousin as other Metcalfs married Brumbalows and Adams) and they had Samuel Jack Brumbalow (who went on to Missouri with Nancy and 1/2 brother Salathiel Adams Harris) and Mary Brumbalow stayed in Georgia m to David Wright Mitchell. Nancy had been in Jackson and Murray counties in Georgia.

Hello Lois

I have not done any research on Nancy Medcalf, however, Lydia Medcalf married my 4th great uncle, Isaac Brumbelow.
He was born in Richmond Virginia around 1740.
Also, Amy Medcalf married my 4th great uncle, David Brumbelow. He was born in Richmond Virginis around 1750, and died in Mecklinburg N.C.
(Amy and Lydia were sisters) Nancy was probably a close relative. If I find a direct connection I will let you know.

This is the same family.

I believe John or William is Nancy's father as both a John and William were in Jackson Co., GA.

Henry Metcalf lives next to Joseph Harris Sr. on the Jackson Co. 1820 census (it is online under the county) and is young enough to be a brother of Nancy.

Nancy marries Joseph Harris Jr. in Jackson Co. March 1, 1823 and after having
Salathiel Adams Harris,
Asa Harris,
and Nancy Harris
he dies and she marries ....Brumbelow
and has Samuel Jack
and Mary.

Later Nancy Metcalf Harris Brumbelow is on the census in MO with Salathiel's family after his wife, Nancy Springfield dies. All the children went to MO except Mary Brumbelow.

There is later a John Oliver Metcalf in Jackson Co., GA that married Martha Lord. Martha's parents were Major W. Lord and Teresa Dunson.

I have written down Nancy married William Brumbalow about 1833 son of Lewis Isaac Brumbalow who was b 1803 in Anson Co., NC and died Nov 15, 1843 in Arkansas but I'm not sure if that is right. I believe someone gave me that information as I do not see any document supporting that.

The children of William and Amelia Metcalf were
John,
William,
Anny,
Lidia,
Miriam,
Joel,
Amelia,
Emmanuel,
David Metcalf.

There is a abstract of a will for William and wife Amelia in Anson Co., NC listing children. I don't remember if it lists all (need to look through some papers for that).

I have down Anny m David Brumbalow,
Miriam m John William Thomas,
Amelia m Adams (this I think is the lady living next to Joseph Harris Sr. in 1820 census),
Emmanuel m Sarah Purser.

Under William Metcalf of Jackson Co. his will says of TN and Murray Co. makes Edward Brumbelow of Jackson Co. his lawful attorney to sell and etc. on Cabin Creek makes his smark and recorded by Edward Adams, Clk

I noticed in Grainger Co., TN there were Metcalfs, Hunters, Millers marrying. We also see Hunters in the Harris, McGhee, Bunyard families. But I don't know if there is a connection. There is a John Metcalf marrying a Caty Miller.

Jackson Co. Deed Book F p 104 Indenture between Samuel Haggard and William Brumbellow...Jesse Harris witness Sept 2, 1813

Deed Book F p 75 Indenture betw Edward Brumbalow and Reuben Hardy Oct 13 1808 Jackson Co.

Deed Book G, p 408 Indenture between William Brumbalow and William Bennett Oct 26 1814 Jackson Co., Georgia

John Metcalf on 1820 Jackson Co. cenus

John Metcalf Jackson Co., Ga Deed Book F p 176 606-1815 personally appeared before me George Lister and John Medcalf sworn on 20th May 1815 contest between Jesse Harris and Robert Fullerton that Fullerton bit off part of the left ear.

Millie Adams had children...Salathiel Adams m Sarah Harris, John m Aditha Metcalf, Lavinia m Jesse Harris, Thomas m .............Sarah and Jesse children of our Joseph Harris, Sr.

Joseph Harris Sr. children...
Jesse m Lavinia Adams
Mary
Topy

Thomas m Elizabeth Lord
Sarah m Salathiel Adams
Joseph m Nancy Metcalf who then married a Brumbelow
William Walton Harris m Nancy Wilson and Clarissa White Strickland
Nancy m Walker Dunson
Elizabeth m Daniel Reidling

I get confused with Anny and Amelia as they seem to call Anny by the name Amy...and Amelia is the Millie.

I have that Anny Metcalf was born 1769 and m David Brumbalow son of Edward Brumbelow. He was b 1750 and d 1824 Mecklenburg, NC. (By the way our Harris also came from Mecklenburg, NC....known as Rocky River Harris').

I have when David died that Amy and Michael Hennigan and Amy's mother Ammy migrated to Monroe Co., GA to benear Ammey's other children including David Jr. Amy Medcalf Brumbelow rec'd land in the Cherokee Land Lottery. She was not on 1840 Clark Co., Miss. census with her daughter who later moved to Louisiana as did some of Miriam's children.
