Hi Linda,

I have information relating to a number of the Carew family members. One of the first Carew family to be born in Australia was Reginald Hubert born 3-1-1888 Thornbury.
Please reply I would be grateful for any related family info.

Regards,
Tonya

My great, great grandmother was Eliza or Lizzie Carew from Tipperary. Her parents were James and Mary.James was a blacksmith.Lizzie married Walter Syme. She gave birth to Walter in 1885 and Laura in 1887 and died in Balmain Sydney in 1889.I would be grateful for any information. Laura married Douglas Porter and gave birth to my grandmother Ilma Porter who was orphaned (so the story goes) age 7 and sent to NZ.

Surnames: Carew, Hayes
My GG Grandmother's name was also Eliza Carew (born 1846). Her parents were John Carew and Ellen Hayes from Cappaghwhite, County Tipperary, Ireland.
She emigrted to Victoria, Australia.
I'm sorry I can't be of any help with information on your Eliza, but I just thought I should mention my ancestor as there could be a connection back in Ireland between your Eliza's father and my Eliza's father.

Thanks,
A. O'Brien,
Australia

Reginald Hubert Carew b. 1888 may have had a brother, Albert Lynn Carew who I believe died sometime around 1930, buried at St.Kilda Cametary, Melbourne. Albert Lynn was my grandfather. Can anyone confirm a connection.
