Does anyone have any direct linkages to the famous Eric-Henry Liddell,
born Jan 16,1902 - 1924 Olympic Gold medalist for Scotland - basis for the movie
"Chariotts of Fire". He was married to Florence MacKenzie and parents were
James Dunlop Liddell and Mary Reddin. Eric also had a brother Robert Victor. He
is apparently quite famous at the University of Edinburgh - which named a room after him.

My father insists that his father told him of a 2nd or 3rd cousin Eric Liddel who was an Olympic runner. Unfortunately, my grandfather passed away prior to the release of the movie "Chariots of Fire" and have unanswered questions. I do have an article about his life and his sister live quite close to me in Rexdale, Ontario. If you have any further info or would like to find some, let me know.

I have plenty of information on Eric having contacted some of his descendants directly. I would, however, love to be able to connect your family info if you can figure out the relation to him. Kind regards, Jeff

Thank you for getting back to me on Eric Liddell. I know that some of his family lives close to me in Ontario. I am struggling to find any family tree information as my grandparents passed away some time ago. I do not know your family background, but if you are related to Eric, chances are we are too. I will give you names of those that I know I am related to. Bob Liddell (married to Winnifred (Winnie)), Bob(Robert) Liddell Jr. Dorothy, Barbara, Albert Liddell, Albert Edward Liddell, Laura Liddell. My great-grandfather was born in Durham, England and was married to Mary Gregg (Parents owned Newcastle Brewery). I'm having difficulty beyond that, although I know that prior to my great-grandfather the family came from around the Edinburgh, Scotland area and belonged to the Stuart Clan. If you have any information on the Liddell family or know where I could start to research it I would be very greatful. Thanks, Val

I understand that my father is also a cousin of Eric Liddell. I have a great uncle by the name of Robert Liddell and his children are Robert, Dorothy, Albert and Barbra. Is this any connection to the Robert you speak of?

Valerie,

I have 3 Robert Liddell's in my family tree, none of which have the children that you mentioned. Could you explain your relationship to Eric Liddell for me so i could connect you to my tree. Feel free to email me directly. Thanks. Jeff (hoping we can add more pieces to our trees)

My father Andrew John Liddell from Dunoon Scotland, born in Glasgow 85 years ago always told us that Eric Liddell was a second cousin, his relatives lived in the Buffallo New York area. He was one of three children, Rena and Ada his sisters, his Mother and Father had a small farm in the Lanark area of Scotland, also ran a small hotel in Rothesay for some years.

My grandfather was always telling me that Eric Liddell was my great great uncle. Whether or not that is true I would love to know! If this were true it would mean that Eric Liddell would be my great grandfather's (Robert Liddell) brother. My great grandfather was married to Agnus Liddell who had 2 children whose names were also Agnus and Robert Liddell. My grandfather (Robert Liddell) was from Glasgow, Scotland. To be honest, I don't have much more information than that as my grandfather and his father were not close. My grandfather went on to marry Mary Liddell. If anyone has any more information about the Liddell family tree, I would love to see it!
