I have a John MacPherson from Scotland that might have come into Nova Scotia on his way to New Brunswick where he married Phillipi Maynard then went on to Maine with brother James.

I am new using the computer. I just happened to be looking for information on the name MacPherson and saw your message. My great grandparents came from Nova Scotia I believe. His name was John as well. His family seatled in Rutland Vermont to my knowledge. Would have to find out his wifes name. My father's name was Sterling John, my grandfather was John. They both lived in Connecticut.

Are you by any chance the same person who e-mailed me. If you are, I somehow deleted your message, but I had printed it out for reference. I hope you don't mind me contacting you on another message board. I would imagine that there is a connection to your Grover Ragsdale Chapman and the Chapman-Ragsdale connection on my end. the time frames and the combination of names is just too "coincidental". Don't you think? Anyway I'll check with a cousin who is also doing research on that line to see if she has anything. E-mail me back if you are the same person. Thanks...Janet

My grandfather was Clifford MacPherson, his father was Thomas Lawther MacPherson, Thomas' father was Sammuel MacPherson and his Mother was Charolotte Grant. They came from Scotland to Canada. Clifford was born in Pennsylvania (Jefferson county). I'm not sure where Thomas was born. Does anyone have information on this branch of the MacPherson family. The name may have been spelled McPherson (Mc with two lines under the c ment Mac) Thanks for the help

Janet, I did email someone about the Ragsdale/Chapman connection. My husband's grandfather was born Grover Ragsdale Chapman, July 31, 1892 in Waynesboro, TN. His father was William A. Chapman, born May 1846. Mother was Louisa Jacobs born 8/25/1849. If this means anything to you, email me at tmac@ludl.tds.net

My family came largely from Nova Scotia

Although I now live in California, I grew up in Canada and my grandparents spent much of their life in New Glasgow, NS. I believe there was some connection to Guysborough. My grandfather was Hugh William Macpherson and my grandmother was Norma McColl. Contact me if you'd like further info. I've probably got details on dates and locations going back to the late 1800's or earlier.

N.S. MacPherson's

Hi. I am a N.S. MacPherson but know very little of my roots (for some reason or other!!). My father was Donald Edward MacPherson. He was born in Lunenburg, N.S. His parents were Walter and Lillian (Smith) MacPherson. I believe my Grandfather was from the New Glasgow area but there is no longer anyone left here that knows for sure. My father died in 1987 at age 76.

As well, I have found some evidence to suggest that my family used to be McPherson. I have an old railroad pass of my Grandfather's (he was an Engineer) that has his name as McPherson. I have a Memorial Cross which was in honor of a Spr. G.M. McPherson. My Mother has no idea who this was. I also have a newborn baby bracelet with McPherson on it. Also no idea who this belonged to.

I recall my Father visiting relatives in the States on his way to British Columbia with his brother but I have no names or addresses.

I intend to keep digging as I now have a daughter that I would like to someday be able to tell her about her family. If I come up with anything further from this neck of the woods I will let you know.

If any of this sounds familiar, I would appreciate some of the blanks being filled in.
