My 3great-grandparents were Lewis and Susannah (Prewitt) Meadors. I would like to share information and ask for some information from anyone who may be related to this couple. Their daughter, Judia, was my great-great grandmother. Eager to find a cousin.

Yes, I have talked to Sue. I had a family reunion in Kentucky a couple of weeks ago. I was able to go by the old Meador cabin near Williamsburg. No one lives in it now. We went inside the house and it's mostly full of junk -- just like a great, big closet. The outside is still in decent shape, but the yard is grown up with tall grass and weeds. I am greatly afraid that the old place will not be there for too many more years. We took pictures of it, but they didn't turn out too well because of the direction of the sun (they turned out a little on the dark side). My dad (a carpenter) went with me on the trip. He said the house was once a house with a dog trot style in the middle. That's why there were two front doors.
Anyway, people who want to see it better be getting over to see it, or someone in the "family" needs to see about buying the old place. If I could I would.
Also, the New Zion Church folks are selling their building (by the old cemetery) and are moving on the main road (hwy.26) that comes out of Williamsburg. They are building a new church building. So, it will be interesting to see what becomes of the old cemetery. Right now, it's run by a volunteer who left a sign on the cemetery fence asking for donations. I feel that that cemetery's future may be in jeopardy as well.
Oh well. Stay in touch.

Hi Todd, I am not kin but I have an older relative that is kin to you. I am trying to find out some information on the Meadors family for her. Her mother was Laura Meadors (1896-1997) and her father was Talbert Ballard. Laura's father was Lewis Meadors and his wife was either a Cloyd or a Morgan.

I checked the names in my family file but did not find a Laura Meadors. As far as Lewis Meadors is concerned, I have several Lewis Meadors'. There are two Lewis Meadors' who could be Laura's father. One I have was born in 1865, but I don't have a spouse or other information on him. Another Lewis was born in 1855 and married a Rebecca. I had a child of his as John born in 1879. So, there is a connection somewhere but I'm not sure where right now. If you could supply me with siblings of Laura and other remembered information I might be able to help more. The old Meadors home is still standing. We saw it this past summer. It's quite a site. It's been there since the late 1830's/early 1840's.
Keep in touch.

The Lewis Meadors that is Laura's father would be the son of Lewis F. Meadors; married to Susannah Prewitt. My cousin is 81 years old and does not have much information other than that. She seems to think that Laura had 17 brothers and sisters...one by the name of Jason. Am not sure that is much help for you though. I am trying to surprise her with some information on the Meadors line since I have already given her information on the Wilder and Ballard lines of our family. Thanks again, Lynn

Where is the home and cemetary located in Williamsburg? And who did the home belong to? I am just beginning my search for my roots and everything keeps coming back to Williamsburg, Ky. I have no idea where I fall in the Meadors line... any info would help. My grandfather was Burnett Meadors, his father was Andrew Jackson Meadors,His father was James H. Meadors (1852-1896) and his father was James Meadors (1816-1892. My email is Cin25@aol.com. Thanks!

Cindy, can you take it back one more generation from James 1816-1892? I have a James March 24 1817-May 8 1892, son of Reuben and Jane Campbell. Does you line go back to Reuben?
