Looking to find an Obit from Pontiac around 1920. Any ideas on what newspapers were active at the time and where they might be archived?

Thank you!

Try contacting the Oakland County Library:
http://www.oakgov.com/libraries/Pages/askaquestion.aspx

Questions the Library CAN help you with:

look for death notices in the microfilmed newspapers if provided with an exact date of death.

They should at least let you know about papers.

The Pontiac Press was also active in 1920. It's now the Oakland Press. Other names it's had are the Pontiac Daily Press, Pontiac Gazette, and Oakland Gazette.

I would check with the Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society - www.ocphs.org, and the Pontiac Public Library - http://www.pontiac.lib.mi.us, to see if they have obits for the paper.

You can also check seekingmichigan.org for death records through 1920.

The Pontiac Library has all of the archived Oakland Pres/Pontiac Press newspapers. There are another set at the Oakland County Court House. They are on reels. You can view the actual newspapers at the Oakland County Court House.
