I don't know if we can help each other or not. My mother is Brenda (Cole) Wedige, born in Holt county, NE to Charles Victor and Floramae Cole. My grandfathers parents came over to Ellis Island from Europe and then traveled by wagon to Iowa and later, here, to O'Neill, NE. Anything you know would be great help for her and her family. Thank you!

My father's family came to Oneonta from the Margaretville/Arkville area. I believe they were born there. I have an old family Bible that has entries of births and deaths from the mid to late 1800's. I have loads of info on our branch if anyone's interested. I'm interested in information on my great-grandparents if anyone has anything.

Sorry -
Don't have a Rachel Cole that I know of. I do have another Cole line thru NY/PA that I have never found anything on yet. My g-g-grandmother, Harriet Ellen Cole b. 11 Oct 1835 (Dunkirk, Chautauqua, NY?) (census says PA) who married David Elisha Dodge b. 1831 to parents David E. and Maria (Cole) Dodge. If I find any links between your Rachel and my Harriet Ellen, I'll contact you asap.

Dear Beth,
I have researched back to my my 5th ggrandfather, was just wondering what information you had, maybe we are related. If you wouldn't mind to send me what you have, I would be excited to find out if that is so.
Thank You Sincerely,

Karen, I've got a cousin named Karen Cole! My grandfather gave me a Bible that had belonged to his parents. I'll list the people it has in it. We also have info on our branch of the tree if you decide we're related somehow.
Jennie B Cole born at Griffins Corners on 7/4/1871
Mary E Cole born at Griffins Corners on 7/26/1873
Jerusha Cole born at Pine Hill 3/13/1876
George Cole born in Margaretville 8/10/1880
Nettie A Cole born in Maragetville 8/16/1883
Arthur Cole (my grandfather) born at Margaretville on 6/27/1886
It also notes Thomas Cole died at Pine Hill 5/3/1876 and his wife Jerusha Cole died in Margaretville 12/14/1891 at the age of 97 yrs
Then I believe it is in my Grandmother's handwriting that says:
John Cole died 3/8/1911
Mrs. Agnes Cole, wife of John Cole died at Margaretville 4/23/25 at age 76 yrs
Hope this helps - please email me directly at
I live near Portlandville NY - it's about halfway between Oneonta and Cooperstown.
Thanks, Beth.
