I think that there still may be a connection to these families since your BEHRENS family came the same way that the BOLLWAHN family did and at the same time period. Do you have any information on passenger lists or a name of ship by chance? Donna

You have listed in your surnames "Berger". How is that surname connected to you? I am researching "Berger" in the Jefferson County, WI, and McHenry County, IL, areas.

Thanks for your response. I have been unable to find the names of the Lange parents or where in Germany/Prussia they came from. According to my great grandfathers obituary, he came with his family in 1862 to Iowa and from there to Kansas in 1878. I have been unable to find the family in 1870 census although I have searched Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, Kansas, and Nebraska. Family records indicate that my Frederick W. Lange was born May 1, 1855 and his brother Ed was born in 1857. They had a sister Augusta who married a Berger and a sister Louise born Nov. 16, 1866 in Illinois who married Fred's brother in law, Benjamin Hutchins. The Hutchins family moved to Smith Co., Kansas from Deloit, Iowa. There may have been family or friends they travelled with or came to, but I haven't been able to find them yet. Winnie

I know nothing about the Lange family on my end. Therefore, there could be a connection between your Lange and Berger families and mine. I only have info that a Minnie Lange from possibly the Elgin, Il, area married a Knaack. The Knaack family was/is from the McHenry County, Il, area which is just south of Walworth County, WI, area into Illinois. The Berger family I have much more on, but none that I can tell married an Augusta. I will post a response if/when I find something. Hey, you never know.

I am trying to find the parents of my Gt. Grandfather Fred Lange who was born in 1855 in Germany/Prussia and came in 1862 with his parents to Iowa. In 1878 he moved to Smith Co., Kansas where he married Carrie Hutchins in 1881. His sister Augusta Lange married someone named Berger either in Illinois or Iowa. Do you happen to have an Augusta in your records?

I know this is an old post, but I'll take a chance. My gr-gr-grandmother was Mary Lange, married to Christ Rohrbeck in Kankakee Illin 1864. I found what I think is her brother Wilhelm Lange, who lived in Will County, Illinois, them moved to Remsen, Plymouth County, Iowa. Mary and Christ had seven children, most in Will County Ill, then moved to Carroll County Iowa. They were all in 1880 census, then parents no longer to be found in Iowa 1885 census, but children were separated and still living in the area.
I also have Berger family in my tree. A Berger from Jefferson, Jefferson Co. WI married an Eiden. My gr-gr grandmother was Anna Eiden, from Jefferson WI, who married a Conrad (or Konrad) Daniel, and they lived in Beaver Dam. ( I think the Berger married to Eiden was one of Anna's brothers). One of Anna's daughters married my gr- grandfather Adam Schleisman who was from Lidderdale, Carroll Co. Iowa. This also happens to be where the Rohrbeck children ended up living after the parents were gone. I'd be happy to share what I can with you. Hopefully by now you have added to your information.

You have the same surnames as I do: Berger, Lange, Eiden, and from Jefferson, WI. But I do not have an Anna. My Eiden is Clotilda, not sure what her husband's name was off hand. She and her family stayed in the Jefferson area. Some of her brothers (Berger) moved away from there. A couple went to Chicago and one eventually went to McHenry County, Illinois.

I am wondering if Anna's husband and Tillie's husband might be brothers or at least related.

Lange - My Lange's family came from Rosin, Wisconsin. Minnie Lange married Wilhelm Hacker in Elgin, Illinois. W. Hacker was from McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois. Doesn't sound like our Lange families are connected. But you never know.

Let me know if you have any questions or think we may be connected somewhere.
