Looking for info on my husband's grandmother Concetta Piacente. I think she was from Campobasso area in Italy. Came to America 1904 and married Pasquale Bellone and lived in the Bronx,NY. She died before 1920 I think as Pasquale Bellone remaried in early 1920s. There was a Piacente Funeral home close to where they lived on 150th street in the Bronx.Do not know if there is a connection.

Was Carmela Piacente related to Donato Piacente who came from Campobasso in 1904? I think Donato is my great-grandfather but not sure yet

My original message had the wrong mother's name for Carmela Piacente. Her mother was Maria Carmina LaPenta. Father Giovanantonio Piacente. She had a brother Donato Piacente born 10/28/1881. Have no other info on him. Possibly he also emigrated to NY. did your Donato emigrate to or thru NYC? If you can get his death record, it may show you his parents names. a good start. feel free to email me if you need other info.

The Donato I'm speaking of was also born in 1881 based on his age at emigration. Go to www.ellisisland.org and search for Donato Piacente, they seem to be the same.
How do I get a death record for that time period? I guess I should start with my grandfather and move up.
Any help or advice is welcomed.

i will check out the ellisisland site. If you know when Donato died, you can write to the state or local vital statistics who would have his records. if he died in NYC, the old ones are kept in Manhattan. I think the later ones are by borough. am sure they have a website (doesn't everyone!!) haha feel free to email me.

My great-grandfather was Donato Piacente. My uncle was his namesake. His son, Michael is my grandfather. He also had a son Frank (I think is his name) who moved to Florida years ago. My family also lived in the 150th Street area of the Bronx. What about the Piacente Funeral Home? Any info?

Hi Bob,
I have a copy of a document listing my great-grandfather's parents as, Giovanantonio (father) and Maria La Penta (mother). I cannot fully translate the document (it's in Italian) but if anyone is willing I'd really appreciate a translation. It looks like a court document and was issued in 1946 I think. I think it may be proof of birth or baptism maybe.
I also have a copy of my grandmother's proof of baptism signed by her mother Katarryna Trzaska. Does anyone have relatives from Lomza Poland, or Russia?

Thanks,

Patty Clark
