I am grasping at straws, but do you have any info on an I.M., Mary, John McKinney or Ann Weston...children of Robert and Mary (Ogelvie) Weston? Ann Weston married Joel Pearson in May 1829 near Monticello, Fairfield District, SC. John McKinney Weston had a son he named Thomas Sumter, who was born 1835 in SC or AL, died 1880 in TX. Thanks!

My g-g-grandfather was Thomas Sumpter Weston,M.D. He was born in Fairfield District, South Carolina
on October 23, 1833. He moved at an early age to Starkville, Mississippi. He attended
medical school in Nashville (he listed Starkville as his hometown on his application to school)
and come back to Starkville, Oktibbeha County, to pratice medicine.
He served as the surgeon for the Oktibbeha Plow boys during the Civil War. He married
twice, first to Missaniah Davis, then Mary S, Gillis. He had 5 children by Missaniah.
He died in Sturgis, Mississippi and is buried at Antioch Baptist Church in Winston Co.,
Mississippi. I have not been able to determine who his parents where, but I am working on
that now. I have pictures of hime but no information about his family. Very intereseted
in your T.S.Weston.

This summer I attended a Weston reunion in Mangham, La. I was given " a short history of the Weston family. It seems Robert and Mary Olgilvie had 5 children: John McKinney, Mary E., Ann, Robert H. and William. The paper is very sketchy at this point. Because it looks as if Robert H. married a Mary Smith but they did not have children. I think we came from Benjamin Bennet Weston (Tude) and Maggie Cheek. My grandfather was John Murray Weston b.23-05-1883, d. 24-01-1962. He was married to Emma Louise Sullivan b. 24-04-1892, d. 16-02-1970. They had 9 children: Maggie (my mother), Allen, Roy, Eunice, Audrey, Bernice, J.B., Roy, Virginia and Winona.
I do not know very much about the older generations. I just saw this on aol today.

I don't have too much on my Thomas Sumter/Sumpter Weston, unfortunately. He was born in 1835, possibly in Lexington, SC and died 11 Feb 1880 in TX, buried Richmond (Ft. Bend) TX. He married Caroline Graham. Thomas also served during the Civil War. This Thomas' parents were John McKinney and Elizabeth (Geiger) Weston. John and Elizabeth moved from SC to Sumpter County, AL, where they died. (John and Elizabeth had another son, John McQuincy Weston, who was also a doctor and served during the Civil War.) John McKinney Weston's parents were Robert and Mary (Ogelvie) Weston. Now...according to some DAR lineage charts (and I don't know how trustworthy this one is), Robert and Mary also had a daughter, Mary, b 1801, SC; died 1858. She married John Rogers and had a son named Elbert Weston Rogers, b 1837. The thing is that according to this DAR chart, Elbert married May Rebecca Peebles in 1859 and at least, one of their children (no date given), Julia Peebles Rogers was born in Starkville, MS! Guess this was just a long way of saying that your Westons and mine have to be connected somehow! They are in and around the same places, name are similar, etc. What do you think?

There's a Weston reunion?!?! Sure would have liked to have been there. Thanks for the names of the additional children for Robert and Mary Weston. I will try to find out more on them. How does your Benjamin Weston fit into this?

Mary,

At this time I can not give you an answer. T. S. is not of my line and the papers I have on him are not handy. I seem to remember his wife's or daughters name was Gussie. Will try to find more for you later.
