Hello Sherry!! So nice to finally have reached someone that also belongs to this family. I have been searching for so long with no results that I couldn't believe it when I saw your message! I am also sending you a letter with more details of what I have. My mother is still living, she was lucky enough to get to live with Tymox as my mother was raised by her grandmother, Mary Ella Stepenson Parker. Tymox was Mary's mom and lived with them until her death. My mother remembers her well. We went to Bazette TX, just outside of Dallas, TX where Tymoxena is buried along side her husband, John Cunningham Stephenson. They were married in Lawrence County Alabama in 1870. I have a copy of the widow's application she submitted since her husband was in the Civil War. Info I received from a cousin of my mom, says that after the death of their parents, the Dyer children lived with Mr. & Mrs. William H. (Martha) Wills. I haven't been able to find any of this on the census but she said it came from 1860 Census Record Giles Co., Tenn. Southern Sub Division, P.O. Bradshaw Household line 520.
I have Joel Dyer born in TN in 1824 and Martha Louise Cobb McCormick (mother) born in TN in 1828. and in 1881 they moved to TX. They were early settlers of Navarro County which is in the Dallas area. Settled in Corsicana and Rice Texas.
My address is 2463 Jasu Dr.
Lawrence, KS 66046
My mother is 72 years old and sharp as ever. Remembers all kinds of stuff so I work on this all the time. I will try to get some pics copied and sent to you of Tymox. My mother looks very much like her too. Tymox was Cherokee Indian according to my mother, either half or whole we aren't sure. She knew all about herbs and medicines
Did you ever hear anything like that in the oral history of your side of the family?
I will check back here more often since my computer is back up and running! Thanks SO MUCH for taking the time to look here! Sincerely, your cousin, Marilyn Annette Keen

We have always thought that Joel Dyer died around
1852. We can not find a burial site though.
Martha apparently married William Wells who lived
on a farm very close to Joel and Martha.
Tymoxena had a brother Jerome that went to Texas.
She also had a brother Zachary Taylor Dyer.
Zachary is my ggggrandfather. I believe that is
right.
Zachary Taylor Dyer married Sarah Cardin

Zachary and Jerome both were in the Civil
War. Zachary fought in several major battles.
I have Zachary's picture, I'll send it to you.
Are you sure that Joel moved to Texas? This could
be the reason we are coming to so many dead
ends with the Dyer family.
We know that Jerome moved to Texas as well.
He married Icie Bennett. We have very little
information on him or his family.
I have been tracking Zachary's kids. He had
one or two that also moved to Texas.
You have given me a new lease on life. It is
wonderful to hear from you! Sherry

Marilyn,
I noted with interest your last name. Our name is Keene. We
live in Corsicana, Texas. Your query was very interesting.
We are only a few miles from Bazette and Rice Texas.
You say your ancestors were Cherokee. We have thought
my husbands ancestors to be Choctaw, but have not had any
luck in five years of research. We are thinking of looking into
the lines of possibly Cherokee. He has been told that his
g-g-g-grandfather was married to a Choctaw Indian called
"Bush".However, we cannot locate any info . Indian research
is very hard. Will go for now. Again, enjoyed you query.
