do you have info on Sarah WOOD, the grandaughter of Josaph and Francina WOOD? She was the daughter od Robert and Catherine WOOD. She was born ca. 1707 and I think she was the wife of John BOTTS, married 9 Dec 1730 either in Cecil or Harford county. Thanks -- Stanley E. Wilson-- Stanley E. Wilson

Just received info saying that Sarah WOOD was the daughter of Joshua WOOD and Elizabeth, and not the daughter of Robert and Catherine. Elizabeth was supposed to be his 2nd wife, (Elizabeth PITCOCK) was her name.
The info further says that Joshua was the son of William WOOD who was born in England. Appearently they lived in Harford Co. instead of in Cecil as I had thought previously.
Of course both of these countys were part of Baltimore Co. at that early day.

Cecil Co.: I am a descendant myself of this Joseph WOOD who m Francina HERMAN, etc. I have the information on Joseph's father William WOOD, Quaker, who was a personal friend of William PENN and came to Chester Co., Pa. at Penn's invitation. William WOOD was the judge there like his son Joseph was for Delaware. William WOOD m Susanna STUBBINS at St. Mary's, Nottingham, England in 1651. share what I have. Did you see my query in New Castle Co., Delaware about the possible connection to the family of WOOD near Nottingham, who lived in property also called "Woodsborough" like here and who have many judges in the family too? I have also placed this query in Nottingham, England and hope to get results someday.

St Mary's...These children were with their parents when they emigrated to Chester Co., Pa. Joseph later moved across the water, so to speak, to New Castle, Delaware where he was a judge like his father. The people of New Castle, Delaware and Cecil Co., Md. crossed the boundary line all the time so it might help you to look there too. Joseph m Francina HERMAN and had Joseph and Jean/Jane for sure and probably but not proven, Susannah, Letitia and Robert. Name of Joseph's second wife not known. Robert, b 1685, d 18 Aug. 1721, m a Catherine and had John Wood, b 29 Nov. 1713?, m Frances FLINTOM/FLINTHAM, b 1715?, Baltimore ...their son John , b 19 Sept. 1738 Cecil Co. Md. m Ann (WOOD?) and moved to Orange Co., S.C. Maybe these bits and pieces I have will help you? This John did have a son WIlliam b 1766 but too late for yours. Good luck!

In your information on William WOOD, Do you have the names of any of his children besides Joseph ?
I'm looking for William WOOD, the father of Joshua WOOD who married Elizabeth PITCOCK (2nd wife) and had daughter Sarah, b. ca. 1707, who married John BOTTS on 9 Dec 1730 in either Harford or Cecil Co. It was probably Baltimore Co. in that early day.
Thought maybe the William that I am decended from might be the same man as your William. The time period is right and they both came from England and settled in the same area of Md. All help appreciated , Thank you very much

Cecil Co.: Hi. I am a desc. of Jane/Jenneken WOOD, your Robert's sister, and dau of Augustine HERMAN and Jannetje VARLET(H). She ended up in NY for a brief time after her husband Thomas CLARK d in Philadelphia. She took her two daus Hannah and Francina with her to Barbadoes in c. 1722 and died there c. 1733? The third dau, Ann Wood Clark, "Nancy" (mine) was left behind with her Wood grandparents and then uncle Richard (Clark?)...Hannah and Francina m in Barbados...Hannah stayed there but after Francina gave birth to dau Francina Towne by husband Richard? Towne, they moved to England. 3 sisters in three different places....if you would not mind giving me your mailing address, I would be glad to send you a copy of what I have. I also recommend that you get in touch with Dennis Wood whose email is in the Cecil Co. queries under the Wood queries. I think I may be on the right track about our Woods of "Woodsborough" being the same Wood family back in England of "Woodsborough" since our Woods were also from Nottingham like these earlier Woods. Maybe we can all pool together and have someone do research there for us? I have a name of the firm who might do it. If you also want Hermand and Varleth data, let me know. Would you be willing to reimburse me for all the copies?
