I would appreciate any information on the family with these surnames from Mallorca. My great-grandfather was Cristobal Frau (mother's...Ensenat) B. 1837; great-grandmother Maria Oliver (Morey) B.1841 and great-grandfather Sebastian Colom (Alcover) B. 1860; all from Soller Mallorca. Appreciate your help!

I have some of those last names in my ancestors but I do not have any dates just names and spouses. Here they are:
Juan Piza Oliver married to Francisca Mayol Frontera, Antonio Ensenat Caparo (founder & President of Credito Balear) and Isabel Maria Oliver Colom. Any connections?

Hi. I also have your ancestor as my ancestors. My great-great-grandfather is Cristobal Frau from Mallorca, married to Maria Oliver, also from Mayorca. They are the parents of Miguel Frau, my grandmother's parents. They arrived in Puerto Rico on 1879 and lived in Lares, PR. Moreover, Sebastian Colom Alcover was married to Maria Muniz, they were the parents of my beloved great-grandmother Magdalena Colom Muniz, who lived in Lares in the later years with my grandmother, Isabel Frau Colom. The only other fact that I know is that Sebastian Colom Alcover was awarded the "Caballero Real Orden Isabel la Catolica" in or around 1859. Hope that this helps.

Hi cousin!
Yes we definitely are cousins. Isabel, your grandmother, was my Godmother. My father, Luis, was her brother, and other siblings were Mario, Cristobal, Antonio, Malen, Maria, and Gloria. I know about Sebastian Colom Alcover although I have a bad copy of the document. I only knew of Isabel having one daughter. Did she have any other children? I have been trying to get as much information on my father's family as possible but since I'm not in Puerto Rico and have lost communication of family members there, it has been difficult. I have the basic family information because my father gave it to me befor he died. Any and all information is very much appreciated.

Just saw your response. Do you have dates and places of birth? One of my great-grandfathers was Cristobal Frau Ensenat, his wife was Maria Oliver Morey and the other great-grandfather was Sebastian Colom Alcover. Ensenat seems to be somewhat of a rare name. The Enssenat and Oliver are on the Paternal great-grandparents side and the Colom on the maternal side. There is probably a connection since you have 3 of the surnames. It's like pieces of a puzzle that need to be put together.

Further information: I had an aunt and a great aunt named Isabel and my great-aunt was Isabel Colom. Her father was from Soller. It is possible that your Isabel could have been his sister's and my great-grandmother's (Maria Oliver, from Soller) brother's daughter? My father told me that these families had known each other for a very, very long time.

Actually, you are the cousin of my father, who was the son of Isabel. Your father was his uncle, and I regard that he moved to Florida and died there. If that is so, I can tell you that on my side, Isabel only had my father. She raised a girl, but it was not related and no legal adoption was made, hence she kept her name, and over the years I also lost track of her. I can tell you that I knew most of my grandmas' siblings, which were born two years apart: Maria (1900); Isabel (1902); Mario Gabriel (1904); Cristobal (1906); Antonio (1908); Luis (1910); in between there was a miscarriage and then be twins were born on 1913 Magdalena "Malen" and Gloria, which was my godmother. I personally knew Maria, Mario, Cristobal, Malen and Gloria. Cristobal married Delia Marquez Quintero and had 2 or 3 daughters, I know one drowned and the other I new when I was a kid, her name was Myrna but everyone called her Chulina, and she married Felipe Casta. I know they lived in Castaner, near Bartolo. Mario and his wife did not had kids, I know they adopted one who lived where they lived, in San German, but I do not recalled his name. Magdalena went by the name of Malen, since a lot of the family was named either Maria or Magdalena, and married Juan Manuel Villarini; she had a daughter that died in a tragic accident in a ferries wheel and a son, which is still alive called Gardy (I would say is Edgardo, but really do not know, Papi always calls him Gardy.) Gloria married Jacinto Galib and had a couple of kids. I also know that Maria had some kids. I am trying to gather all the info I can get and have a tree being built. You can contact me at oldhamia in the yahoo network, or for that mater anywhere since my name is so "unique", I know that Oldham is a fair common last name, but really it is my first name.

Hi Judy,
It is a pleasant surprise to hear from you. I am the daughter of Luis Frau, Gloria's brother and my grandmother was Maria Magdalena. I have been trying to do the family tree with the information that my father gave me but my information is limited because I live in Miami, far from P.R. Please write to me directly to my E-mail: MFESTES@bellsouth.net so that we can communicate privately.
Your cousin,
Martha
