Hello,
My name is Gina Salerno. My father and I are researching our family, and I know I am related to Sebastiano Salerno, although at the moment I cant remember how. My great grandfather Santoro Salerno was also shot and killed (By a man named Rocco Belame) in Omaha Nebraska in the 1920's. Santoro Salerno came to the US from Carlentini Sicily somewhere around 1906. His son, my Grandfather, Joseph Anthony Salerno, raised his five brothers and sisters after his father's death, and in the thirties he moved his wife (Lena Gagliano) and kids to San Jose California. I hope this information is at least interesting, if not helpful to you, and if you have any interesting information you could share with me I would be glad to hear it. My email is moonsugarcube@yahoo.com.
Thank you for your time,
~Gina Salerno~

Makes sense but not sure about connection to Sebastiano. There were apparently quite a few Salerno's who lived in Omaha's little Italy. Do you know anything about your great-uncle (?) who was shot? If interested and you have an estimate of a date I can check the library--they have all the local papers on microfilm. I live in Omaha.

This is not my own family research but I got interesting while doing research for a friend. We have pictures of the house where Sebastiano murdered Joseph Amato in the 1940s.

I love history and find myself poking around when anything interesting comes up! Let me know if there is anything I can check for you. Shari (scrapperiam@aol.com)

Hi Debi:

I didn't get too deeply into this family--was doing a little research on the family of the man killed by Sebastiano Salerno so only peripherally interested in this name. She found what she wanted to know so I never pursued it any further. I am in Omaha, however, and this name was quite prominent here. Right now we are housebound with the weather--blizzard conditions--but if summer ever comes I could do a little poking around for you if you like.

Dear Gina,

I am your cousin Mary (Gagliano) Morgan, ask your daddy Michael Salerno if he remembers me, he pick me up from the airport to bring me to his mother Lena (Gagliano) Salerno's house. I stayed with Lena for about 2 days vacation. Lena is my daddy Joe Gagliano's brother Frank Gagliano's daughter. I am also have been working on the Family Tree on the Gagliano, Salerno, Saraceno, Lorio, Loria's. Just ask your dad's sister Josephine (Salerno) Pugsley about me. Josephine has given me a lot of information that she had sent to me on the Family Tree chart. We have talk & e-mailed each other. I also got a lot of information from Barbara Salerno of the Salerno family. I did not know about your great grandfather Santoro Salerno that he was shot. If there is some information you need please let me know. Here is my e-mail: marymorganelvis@gmail.com

When I was a little boy, I lived at 1909 S 2nd. Ella Salerno was my babysitter. My father did odd jobs for Louise Salerno and my brother Jim worked at Trentino's. Ella used to share many stories with me, I have very fond memories of her. We also had a still in our basement. My family also moved to San Jose in 1980 and I lived most of my life there. Louise's husband died of natural causes and Ella's husband Yano died of cancer.
