Searching for any information regarding the Janney Family.
My grandfather was Robert Janney, son of Burwell and Mary
Radford Janney, his grandparents were Moses and Margaret
Dixon Janney, grgrandparents, Isaac and Hannah Janney.
Robert enlisted in the Civil War in Jacksonville which I under-
stand is now Floyd. I don't know how he got to Ohio, where
he married Mary Elizabeth Francis. He told my mother he
never went home after the war. He said his family was not
rich nor were they poor, I guess he meant comfortable. I
once read where my ggggrandfather Isaac Janney gave info.
to the County Coroner of Franklin Co.,re: a murder, but, could find nothing more on that. Any info on the Janney Family
would be greatly appreciated. Perhaps someone could inform any Janney they may no that I am searching for Family History. I am 72 so don't have a lot of time to look.

What I have will probably not help you. My great uncle, Moses Janney was the son of Burwell and Mary Radford
Janney. His siblings: Robert, my grandfather who married
Mary Elizabeth Janney in Zanesville, Ohio, Peter m. Linda Via
and moved to Alabama, Jesse dmarried two Foster sisters
and died in 1895. Have been told he hung himself, but, no
proof of same; Mary died as a small child. Ellen married John
Vest, Charlie married at least one Austin girl--possibly two.
Ruth married John Janney her first cousin. Moses Nathaniel
Janney m. Ruth Underwood, served in the Civil War, Co. H, 54th Infantry, wounded at Missionary Ridge in Tenn.Nov. 25,
1863. His grandaughter is 95 yrs old and lives in Vinton,Va.
He had a musket ball injure a hip and was always somewhat
crippled. He was named Moses after his grandfather, Moses
Janney who was married to Margaret Dixon. That Moses was
the son of Isaac and Hannah Janney. This Isaac was the son
of Wm. and Elizabeth Moon Janney, Wm. was the son of
Joseph and Rebecca Biles Janney and Joseph was the son
of Thomas and Margery Heath Janney who came to America
from England. Thomas was a friend of Wm. Penn.

I meant to tell you that there was another Moses Janney who
was the son of Sparrel and Rosanna Radford Janney who died
of fever in Richmond during the Civil War. As you have probably noticed the Janney's named their children the same
names in every generation and brothers and sisters named
their children the same names in the same generation. You
can either pull your hair out, give up or burn the midnight oil
trying to figure them out.
