I am attempting to locate Austrian roots of the Roessler Family. Supposedly the name originated someplace in Austria, then spread to Germany. Later immigrants came to the USA and brought the name with them. Would appreciate any and all help given. In return, I would be willing to do what I can for anyone searching for family info in the North-Eastern Ohio region. I work in Cleveland, Ohio. Thank you.

My husband's father, Otto Roessler, was born in Krakow in 1895. At that time it was Austria and Otto's father, Marion, remained there. Otto and his mother Theresa, came to the US before 1898 because Otto's brother Alfred was born in Trenton, NJ in 1898. We have not had any success with locating information about Theresa. However, I was told through Austrian email, that the German name of Roessler, must have been in the military or civil service.

The only information I have been able to confirm is that Otto Roessler waa born in Krakow. austria in 1895. He had a brother named Alfred who was born in the US in 1898 and resided in Trenton New Jersey. Other than that I am at a standstill. I have searched for the last 5 years and have not been able to determine any information regarding Marion Roessler, his father.

Hi, I just finally checked the message board again and saw your reply. I have never heard of a Kevin within our family or from my father. What can you tell me that would enable me to ascertain the relationship if any of you to our family? I am not trying to be rude, however in this day and age it pays to be careful. Thanks for your reply and I hope to hear more about you.

My father tells me that the roots are from Eltendorf, Austria. He traveled there as a college student to visit the boyhood home of his grand parents, parents.

His grandfather & mother immigrated to Cleveland, OH in the 20's. His parents still live in the Cleveland area.

I hope this helps.
