William Camp born 1808 VA; died 2 July 1862 Coles County, IL. Married Rachel (maybe Sprawles?) who was born 1807 Ireland; died 31 July 1863 in Coles County, IL. Children were: (1)Robert A. Camp (family tradition says he was killed while serving in Union Army during Civil War; (2) Arthur Camp; (3) Albert J. Camp, born 1835 Guernsey County, OH; married Eliza Jane Bowles, 1860 Coles County, IL. They moved to MO in 1964 and he died 7 July 1907in Jasper County, Missouri (4) John M. Camp, born 26 Dec 1837 Guernsey County, OH. Never married. Died 21 Nov 1914 Jasper County, MO. (5) Catherine Camp, born OH. (6) Ann Camp, born 1843 Ohio. (7) William Camp, born 1845 Ohio; married Mary Winkleback 1870 Coles County, IL (8) George T. Camp, born 1848 OH, married Angelina Havel(?) 1870 Coles County, IL. (This family went to KS.) William Camp was very possibly the son of Robert Camp who was shown on the 1820 Belmont County, OH federal census. Would like correspondence with anyone interested in this family, and am very interested in learning the parentage of William Camp and Rachel (Sprawles?) mnracz@Juno.com

This is a long shot, but always worth a try. I'm looking for any information on Thomas P Camp. According to 1860 Texas census he was boen in N.C. 1818. He located first in San Antonio, Texas then moved outside town into Wilson county. His wife was Emza and she was born in Indiana in 1822. Thomas and Emza had 6 daughter and two sons. My great grandmother's name was Pinkney Emza Camp born in Texas 1858. Pinkney Emza married Joseph Polk Henry in Texas about 1880. This is just about all I have found on this family. Anyone know of this family? Thanks for the help >

Your William was definitely the son of Robert and Anna Camp of Belmont and Guernsey Co., Oh. who had come there around 1815 from Loudoun Co., Va. In 1839 there is a deed in Guernsey Co where William Camp is deeded land by Anna Camp. Also, his sister and her husband, William Stevens, deeded William land also. (Deed Books N, p. 131,132) Obviously Robert Camp had died prior to this date, but I have no exact date. Robert Camp may have lived in Maryland prior to Virginia, because his daughter Elizabeth always claimed Maryland as her place of birth and see seem to be one of the oldest children. I am interested in the given name you give to William's wife Rachel--Sprawles. What is the source? I have not found their marriage record. There were families name Sprowl, etc., in that part of Ohio.

Were there two Williams both married to Rachel Sprowls??
Rachel Sprowls was born in Pa. about 1827 to Arthur Sprowls and Catherine Wallace. Arthur immigrated with parents John Sprowls and Elizabeth Love and his siblings about 1793.
After reading your posting I started searching census records.
In Pike County Illinois 1850, I find William Camp born Pa., age 25, and Rachel born Pa. age 23; with child Americus age 9/12 born in Illinois.
This would make William born about 1825 and Rachel born about 1827.
I would like to compare records of this family as it sounds like their is some inaccuracy. What are your sources?
I have tried to email and my mail to you bounces.
Sincerely, Ruth Sprowls sprowls@ncweb.com

Although these are older posts I hope that someone will respond. I am searching for information on a Lawson Camp who had a daughter named or went by Pinckney b. 1878? in Lavernia, Texas. She married Benjamin F. Daniel, had 5 children (1 daughter Bessie Florence - my great grandmother)and died 1905 in Boulder Colorado at the Santa Fe Railway Hospital. My grandfather remembers in 1926 the family visiting 'Momma's" great-aunt Elsie Emma Camp Clark on a ranch out of Delle, UT, now non-existant. ANY information would be helpful.
