I am still trying to contact Ami Albert Quesnel (editor of LES QUESNEL 1488-1983). I called most of the Quesnel's in the phone book. Either he does not want to be reached or he has a non-listed phone number. I will keep trying.

I contacted Quintin Publications and they said that they don't have that book and that they didn't publish it. Are you all sure it was published by that company???? Thanks

I think someone else on the board mentioned that it was published by this company. The book that I have was put together by Albert Aime Quesnel himself, because it looks a little crude for a publishing company to have published.

I am still looking for Albert in Ottawa. I talked to a lot of helpful Quesnels who did know Albert and said that he past away about 20 years ago. I am still trying to locate his children.

I did happen to talk to another Quesnel in the Ottawa area who is more than happy to share his pictures of the Quesnel's from the Ottawa, Hull, Casselman area. Most of his pictures are from the 1800's. You can e-mail me for his name and phone number.

I just had an e-mail from a Quesnel family member, Jeniffer, and she told me that Albert Aime Quesnel is very much alive and that he is the president of the Outouais Geneaoloy Society.

Apparently he gave a presentation at the National Library about the Quesnel family history and is still giving leads to Quesnel members about their ancestors in France

I will tried to look up the Outouais Geneaological Society in
book and see if I can get his number.

Thanks again Jennifer.

To all:
There was a book at the Montreal Library. You were not allowed to take it out. But one was allowed to photocopy the pages. So i copied all the pages and then scanned them and saved them as well as printed a copy.
This book was very helpfull and I have been putting all inculding information from the Church Registers to update the Quesnel familly.
My branch is from Lochiel, ON (Joseph Quesnel married to Marie Louise Strasbourg).
Would like to share info.

My grandmother was a Quesnel, from Lumby BC. (Family moved from St Anicet, QP in 1891 to Lumby.) I'm looking for the first Quesnel who migrated into the Colonies in the 1700s. I found him in the Daughters of the Revolution Library in 1985, tried to find a descendent at that time. Ancestry.com does not list him. (Jean-Baptiste Quesnel, natural son of Olivier Q and Marie-Louise..., Panis. b 28/11/1702) Would love to know if he's in the Q Family History Book. I visited the Montreal Library in 1986 and the history book did not come up, so conclude it was published after that?

I believe you are referring to a different family of Quesnels. Apparently there are no relation between the two. You are looking in the wrong tree. The line you are referring to are a well know family in BC.

The BC Quesnels are descended from Olivier Quesnel of St Malo, arrived 1676 at Montreal, 15/5/1719 at Lachine, 75 yrs old. Married Catherine Prudhomme 1680 Montreal. Their first child was Jean, born 15/10/1681, who had a son, "ENFANT NATUREL" (mother: Marie-Louise ..., Panis): JEAN-BAPTISTE b 28/11/1702 in Lachine.

I believe from records at the DAR Library in Washington, DC, that this JEAN-BAPTISTE QUESNEL at some time moved south to the then British Colonies. One of his descendents fought in the Revolutionary War, and it's this lineage that I wish to trace, hence my interest in the QUESNEL HISTORY BOOK. Does it have a record of this JEAN-BAPTISTE QUESNEL?

PS
I am using Legacy Familly tree maker (deluxe), well over 2,000 if not close to 3,ooo Quesnels. the great majority from church registers and church books called eg. Répertoire des Mariages and also obituaries, tombstones and Ontario and Quebec Vital Statistics such as (Quebec) marriage and death indexes. Lots of information.
I try not to use roots web as a source as lots of people take an error of a tree and add to the error.
However, I will look in the book and my files and see what I have, Will get back to you shortly.
