Surnames: Holliday;Halliday;Caldwell. ( Colwil;Cowil;Cowill;Cauldwell )
I have been looking for information on a William Holliday B:Oct.27,1784 in Ireland. Her was married in Ireland to Sarah Caldwell. She was B:Feb. 1789 in Ireland. They came to America in 1817 with two children John William B:Oct.18,1813 and Ann B; April 5,1811. Their other children were all born later in America. They came over on the ship " Down" which landed in New York City on July 9,1817. In the records here it only says the came from Belfast on the ship Down. We don't know where in Ireland they were born. The only other information we have is that he had a brother David who was married to Nancy and came over at a later date around 1829. Would love to have any thing else any one could find we have looked for years. We even had a cousin who went there and couldn't find anything . The spelling of Sarah's name came from their family bible but could be spelled different. Two generation's later they started to spell Holliday ; Halliday. We don't know why? Maybe someone can help I've come to a dead end. Thanks Thelma

The William Holliday B: Oct.27,1784. Had only two children born in Ireland, the other 6 were born in America or Canada. William Henry his son was born Jan.20,1820 died May 15,1892 He married Betsy M. Eastwood she was born April 1824 Died Nov.10,1919. This we know for a fact. But the William b. in 1784 also had a brother ( as per Arthur Halliday and found in Obit.) William Henry born in England in 1820 and married to Dinnah Hudson. Which I think could be where the mistake was made. The William married to Betsy moved to Wisconsin about 1850. He was the brother to John; James;Sarah;Ann;Mary;Eliza;and Robert . A lot of them settled on Wolfe Island,Canada where my grandmother was born and raised. We still visit with relatives there. I wonder if you have eithier the dates or the Williams mixed up which is easy to do. Please feel free to e-mail me at Tmoye11444@cs.com. I'm really looking for William ( born in 1784) parents I have all the rest. My moms cousin Ona Gibson may be able to unravel the mystery Thelma
