There are still descendants of Robert H. Stevens living here. One of his sons, Robert J. Stevens was the high school principal that I taught under for 12 years before he retired. He has since died.

Ernest,
Wondering if you could hlep me with a lookup for:

William C. Bromley born abt 1827 - died aft 1880
Josephine Bromley born abt 1842 (his wife)

Could be misspelled as Brumley.

Possible burial in Floresville City Cemetery. Couple reported to be there by 1887.

Thank YOU!

I checked the book, "Cemeteries of Wilson County, Texas (Over 130 Cemeteries and Burial Plots)" by Irma M. Meyr, and found no one by either name, Bromley or Brumley, buried in Floresville City Cemetery or any other cemetery in the Floresville, Stockdale and Sutherland Springs area.

That does not mean they are not buried in Floresville City Cemetery, but if they are, there are no gravestones for them or they are unreadable. However, that would not be unusual if they died in the late 1800s or even early 1900s, since there are many reasons why a stone, if one was erected, would no longer be there or readable. Marble, which is a soft stone, was used a lot in the late 1800s so the wording tends to become unreadable with time.

Sorry I couldn't find them for you.

Ernest........I'm hoping you could help me again with a marriage lookup or advice on how to find it. The marriage probably took place in or around Floresville bet 1884 and 1887 for: Peter B. Johnson and Charlotte (Sharlotte) E. Bromley. Once again Bromley could be spelled Brumley. Thanks bunches! Dora

Dora,
I went to the Wilson County Clerk's office today and searched Marriage Record B (1878 - 1891) for the marriage you requested. I looked in the index under both names and found nothing. I then searched the actual marriage record pages from the end of 1883 through 1887 and did not find the marriage.
Sorry I couldn't help you. It could possibly be in an adjacent county.

Thanks again Ernest. I'm beginning to think the Bromley's I'm looking for may have never been in Wilson Co,TX as I was told a long time ago. I'll take your advice and look at adjacent counties. Dora

Ernest,

Hope you can help me out again. I'm looking for the burial of Guy Henry Cone, born 1865 - died July 1834 in Wilson Co. His wife was Marian Josephine Bromley, she died in 1964 in California; maybe she got buried with her husband.

Could you tell me a little about Union Valley; where is it located in Wilson Co?

Thanks again for any help. Dora
