Looking for information on gr grandfather Joseph ROSA, and brother John ROSA. Joseph entered the U.S. in 1854, New Bedford Map, lived in Boston/New Bedford until approx. 1865 when he left for San Francisco CA.Naturalization papers say he was born Sept. 29, 1837 on St. George (sao Jorge) Azores. Also looking for information on his wife Abbie MADDEN or any of her family. She would have sailed to CA with Joseph.she is from Castlefreke, County Cork, Ireland.

We know a little more about the MADDEN FAMILY from County Cork, Castlefreke Island, Ireland.
Abby Madden was born in 1842
Daughter of James Madden and Elizabeth Young.
James had a land tithing in the 1840's - maybe 1850's, the owner of Castlefreke castle/lands was lady Carbery.

James and Elizabeth, Married on 23 Mar. 1830, rathbarry Parish County Cork, Ireland had the following children:
James b. 15 Apr. 1831
Mary b. 23 Oct 1833
Nora (Norrie) B. 28 Apr 1836
Thomas b. 11 May 1839
Abby b. 25 Apr 1842
Catherine b. 14 July 1844.

I have a possible birth record for a James Madden to James Madden and Mary Liagh circa 1812. All from Castlefreke Island records.

.If anyone has records relating to anyone from this family, please contact me. I have not found emigration records to the U.S.A., but Abby resided in San Francisco CA, married to my gr grandfather Joseph Rosa - 1967.

I believe the Maddens emigrated to the U.S. earlier than the 1860's but don't know where they landed nor how Abby met Joseph.

thanks
