I just found out that I am decended from Quatsy of the Wolf Clan...Although I have always known that I am of Native American heritage, I never heard anyone say anything about being Cherokee...I'm just real excited to have finally found out something that my family didn't already know!!! I just want to thank all the people that post their family histories to help others trace their roots; and I will also be posting mine as time permits...I am a mother of 6 so my time is limited. Anyway, I come in the picture with the Corbins if anyone is wanting to know...Thanks again!!!

Quatsy was briefly the spouse of The Little Carpenter. If you would like some very interesting news concerning her you might want to read the Will Emory biography at www.rootsweb.com/~tnpolk2 Follow the RECORDS link to the Cherokee biographies under "C".

There is much controversy and little proof concerning the Cornblossom/Troxel/Doublehead relationship. You'll want to be SURE you have accurate information from original documents before making positive decisions concerning your lineage.

Surnames: Doublehead, Colbert, Tharp, Owens, Moytoy, Carpenter
My research indicates that I too am descended from Quatsy of the Wolf Clan. She was married to Amatoya Moytoy and had a son Pidgeon Moytoy who married Woman Ani Wi. Their son Chief Great Eagle married Wurteh Red Paint Clan had a son Chief Doublehead. Doublehead married many women among which was my grandmother Great Grit Drags Blanket Priber. Chief Doublehead married their daughter, Saleechie, to Chief George Colbert (Chickasaw). Chief George Colbert married his daughter Nancy (my gggggrandmother) to a white man Hezekiah Tharp so that she did not have to go on the Trail of Tears. Her daughter, Elizabeth Tharp married John Clark and had Elizabeth Jane who married James Sherman. Their daughter Pocahontas married Cornelius Haywood Owens. Their son Colbert Loam Owens married Lillian Lucille Shelbourne and they had my father Doyle Colbert Owens. I am interested in making contact with anyone who would can help confirm my research and would like to exchange information or share photos. I have no photos beyond my grandparents. My research indicates that my great-grandmother Pocahontas was named for an ancestral aunt, the historical/legendary Pocahontas (Powhatan) of Jamestown, daughter of Emperor Wahunsonacock Big Powhatan. Please contact me at betsy.carpenter@gmail.com if you would like to work together.

Hi Betsy,
I too am descended from Doublehead and Creat Preiber. My gggggrandmother is Cornblossom. What a surprise to find all this out. Since I am seeing several warnings that this connection may be in doubt, I will continue to read and research, but really, the story is so interesting.

There is no doubt tht Corn Blossom lived. She was a Beloved Woman and a War Woman. The questions abiut her come from a book written by a Troxal decendant that talks about the Yahoo Falls Massacre. He fully admits that there are things in his book that are fictional

There is no evidence of the massacre either in records or in physical evidence. Because the massacre is in question some people think that Corn Blossom is also in question. She is not.
