ameischen,

What version of Windows are you using?

When you say FTM 09, do you really mean Version 9 or Version 2009?

Russ,

I am running Windows 7 on a 64 bit HP. I was using Family Tree Maker 2009. Please let me know if you require any other information. Thanks for your help with this.

Are you installing Family Tree Maker As Administrator? (A Windows 7 feature)

Russ,

No, it did not work. I tried run it both as the administrator and without administrator rights. I am still getting the same error message.

Anne-Marie,

How are you running with and without administrator rights?

Are you right clicking on Setup and Selecting Run As Administrator?

There is some application on your PC that is keeping Family Tree Maker from installing on your PC.

Russ,

Yes, I am sorry if I confused you, but I am choosing run as administer in my adminster account. I even disable my anti-virus software. I am really disappointed. I was so looking forward to my new version and would really like to get it to load. I don't want to return it and re-install the older version.

Is there something else I can try tonight when I get home?

Anne-Marie,

I know that the normal installation works. I know that the steps that I sent to you work. There is something on your PC or some simple step that has been missed.

Please give it a try when you get home and post the results.

I would FIRST Restart your PC, then try to Install directly from the CD.
