My great-grandfather was James Kemp Lay (Leigh) of Clear Spring, MD but his father, John (James) Lay (Leigh) and mother, Evelyn ( Taylor, Dean) was from Greene County, VA. I've been told they are burried in the Taylor Family Cemetary. They had four children: James Kemp, Robert, Mary, and Lottie. I would greatly appreciate any help.

I can't remember whether or not I have contacted you. My mother is Mary Louise Leigh Smith. Her dad Jesse Edward Leigh (wife Levie Lamb). His dad is Robert Sims Leigh/Lay(wife Nellie). His dad is John Lay/Leigh(wife Evelyn). I think his dad is Thomas(wife Martha Riddle). I think his dad may be John as well. There are several John possible. One was in Orange and another in the Valley married to Nancy. From stories told o my mother's side. John walked from the mountain down to Green county. Do you have any more info?
