You have confused two different James W. Tavenners.

James William Tavenner, b. 1843 in Loudoun Co., VA, - d. Nov. 1891 in McLean Co., IL, was the son of Jonathan & Keziah (Morris) Tavenner. He married Mary A. Munsell, not Ida May Boothe.

James William Tavenner m. Mary Ann Munsell in Mc Clean Co., IL on 07/01/1861. Mary M. Tavenner, b. 1843 - d. Jul 1871, ae 28 is buried in Section F of the Evergreen Cem. in McLean Co., IL. This is the same section as James William Tavenner!

The other James W. Tavenner who m. Ida May Boothe on 20 Feb. 1876 in Vermillion Co., IL (the year after his sister, my maternal great grandmother, Emma Jean Tavenner m. there) was b. 10 July 1851 in Loudoun Co., VA, the son of Joseph Richard & Nancy B. (YOUNG) Tavenner.

He was written up fully in "Mc Clean Co., Ill. History" (pp. 168-9).

He was a bus driver, boarding 208 S. East St. in 1870/1 in the Bloomington Directory; a 4th district school principal living at 617 S. Clinton in the 1893 directory; secretary and chief deputy Pioneer Reserve Assoc., rooming at 610 Griesheim bldg., residing 114 W. Mulberry with his mother in Normal in 1899, mfgr. household games, res. 716 W. Taylor in the 1902 Bloomington/Normal Directory.; and "Read & Write Games Co.", residing 100 S. State in 1904 Bloomington City Directory.

According to his mother's obituary in 1917, he was living in Arkansas.

Which Joseph Tavenner? I have nine in my database.

One of them was indeed the son of Richard B. Tavenner, Jr. and his wife Catherine McCarty (his 1st wife). I don't know anything about him except he was b. 24 Aug 1838 in Morgan Co., OH.

My Joseph Richard T. was b. 11 Nov. 1827 (d. 27 Feb. 1902), the son of Jonah & Nancy F. (Nicholson) Tavenner. This Jonah was the son of Richard and Ann (Hatcher) Tavenner and a brother of Jonathan T.. The family lived in Malta Twp. of Morgan Co., OH.

Is there an Elizabeth Tavenner in your Morgan Co., Oh. line? I'm looking for information on the parents of Nancy McCarty, b. 6/13/1829 In Morgan County to Elizabeth Tavenner and Levy McCarty.

Nancy McCarty married John Clancy on 8/9/1855.

(I saw another post on the McCarty and Tavenner families but don't have any other information at this time.)
