Tiffin Family History

I am working on my family tree and can only get back about 4 generations and that is with some fairly sketchy information... My mother, Weslyn Diane Tiffin, is the daughter of Wesley Donald Tiffin who was originally from Oklahoma. He is the son of Noel Tiffin and "Kat" (I am unfortunately having to guess at the spelling and am uncertain as to what her first name may have acutally been.) Noel's father was, we think, Olander, but again, the information is a bit sketchy at best. If anyone can help me with some information, please email me. I would love to be able to trace my family's history. Thanks!

Here are some other names of some family members that have been brought to my attention. Again, this is sketchy at best.
My grandfather, Wesley Donald Tiffin went by Don or Donald, not Wesley. He was married to my grandmother, Wilma Jean Loman, who later remarried and became Wilma Jean Argo. My grandfather also remarried, Norweita, and they owned property in Arkansas, but they lived in Cold Bay, Alaska until my grandfather died in 1984. My grandfather had a half brother named Stacey Lee Tiffin, who lived in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. My grgrgrandfather's name is either Olander or Orlander, and his son's name was Noel, my grgrandfather. Wesley and Norweita had Billy Ray, Charmin Kaye, Caleb, Wesley Donald Jr., and Lynette. These are all my uncles and aunts that I have never met. Wesley had a gruncle, Troy, who lived in Compton, California, until his death in 1990. Please help me track down some more information. Thanks!

Sorry... I haven't gone any farther back than 5 generations and that leads me to somewhere in the southern United States. As I get more information I will certainly share.

Hi again Kimberly,

Good to see you're still digging into the past.
As to your ancestors: The spelling I have for your GGGrandfather is Arlander, My granddad's brother.
Their folks were Henry Buel Tiffin & Eliz. Jane Hodges.
Henry's folks: Henry Clay Tiffin & Charlotta Mitchell.
Henry's folks: Edward Tiffin & Anne Graves.
Edward's folks: Henry J. Tiffin & Mary Kincheloe.
Henry's folks: Henry Tiffin & Mary Parker who came to America abt 1783.
Henry J.'s brother, Edward Tiffin was the first governor of Ohio.
Does that help?
Let me hear from you, Cuz'n.

Floyd

Hi Julie,

I am also a Tiffin, living in Amarillo, Texas and working on the Tiffin family history.
I need some help from my English relatives, hopefully you.
My Tiffin family bloodline moved to America abt 1783. Their names were: Henry Tiffin & Mary Parker. Henry was born abt 1746 and we think he married Mary abt 1763. The family lived around Workington in Cumberland Co. (we believe) & attended church at St Michaels.
I'm needing 2 things right now. Some proof of the wedding date & the record showing passage to America. (Small request, eh?)
We have a big annual Tiffin Family reunion every summer and have had for many years. It is held in different locations in the United States each time so many different relatives can attend as it comes close to them. Works pretty well so far.
I am working on a theme for one of the upcoming reunions as it will be based on the anniversity date (year) of Henry & Mary.
I would like to hear from you and maybe tie your family branch into our family branches. We have quite a great number of relatives recorded here in America.
Take care,
Floyd Tiffin
Amarillo, Texas, USA

Floyd mentioned a big annual Tiffin reunion. I would sure like to hear the particulars when they are firmed up for this year. My g-g grand mother was Catherine Anne Tiffin (m. Ezra Dreher), daughter of Joseph, son of Henry Tiffin and Mary Parker. These are my notes on them:

BIOGRAPHY: Henry and Mary Tiffin and children came to America in July 1783 from Liverpool, England on ship Mary and Ann, having waited until the Revolution was over.

BIOGRAPHY: They landed in New York, then lived in NY, VA and Charlestown (W)VA befor moving to Ross County, Ohio in 1797.

BIOGRAPHY: Henry and Mary Parker Tiffin came from around Workington, Cumbria, England. There is a Tiffin Lane in Workington.

Kirby,
The 2003 Tiffin Family Reunion will be held June 20th & 21st in Plainview, Texas (between Amarillo and Lubbock). The host this year will be Glen Dale & LaVerne Tiffin and their family; Karen & Sue and grandchildren.
It is a casual, come & go affair with food and entertainment furnished. The way we pay the bills is to have an auction of homemade items that each family donates. It has worked well for years. Lots of fun.
The reunion travels to different locations yearly, with the volunteer host picking the time and location (town, state).
This way kinfolks in different areas get to attend when it comes closer to them. We'd like to see you there sometime and get to meet you and your family.
On to some history..Do you have any verification on Henry and Mary Tiffin coming to America aboard the Mary and Ann?
I can't find any ships in the 1700's with that name. Also, no passenger list seems to exist proving the time/departure and arrival. A book about Edward Tiffin(1st governor of Ohio) written in the 1800's states the fact that they did arrive this way but written passenger lists can't be found. Any help here?

Kirby, I have your GGGrandmother (b. between 1810-1820) (d. unknown) with no marriage or descendant history. Would you care to share?
Her parents were Joseph Tiffin (b. 6/10/1769, d. 2/1842 & Nancy Dorsey Wood (b.abt 1786, d. 4/1850) married 10/20/1803. This was Joseph's 2nd marriage. 11 children total both wives.
My line is:
Henry Tiffin/Mary Parker
Henry J. Tiffin/Mary Kincheloe
Edward Tiffin/Anne Graves
Henry Clay Tiffin/Charlotta Mitchell
Henry Buel Tiffin/Elizabeth Hodges
Lester Tiffin/Vesta McAdams
Floyd Tiffin/Georgia Slatter
& me: Floyd Tiffin, Jr/Darlene Buck

We have a good turnout of kinfolk each year (75-125 average) and meet new relatives each time. We're really just country folks that love to visit.
Let me hear from you sometime. And any help with the history part is greatly appreciated. We already have a sizeable data base of relatives but want to have it all....
A book with all known kinfolks is in the works to be published sometime in the near? future.
Great to hear from you. Welcome to the Family. See you at the reunion.
Floyd
