I found a 1935 Oakland article that pertain to an organization called "the Friend's Society" in the article the First Unitarian Church is mentioned...I am not "up" on the Quakers so I am not sure of the affliation, but I think I have heard the term "the friends" used in conjunction with the Quakers. I may be way off base tho'.
found reference to "The Friends Society" or "Society of Friends" of Berkley..they had a meeting house at Vine and Walnut sts in Berkley
