Bill, Doubt if we match but let's see. My William Andrew Stewart was b. 15 August 1834 m. Mahala Hoefner 24 August 1854 in Indiana and died 21 February 1906. His father was John Stuart/Stewart and his mother was Nancy Unknown. If anything sounds familiar let me know at scanlan@netins.net

There are about 20 William Stewarts in Indiana in 1840 and more in 1850. In Montgomery county there was a William who married Rhoda Burks 9/22/1821. Also there is a William who married Emily King 6/8/1841, and a William H. Stewart who married Phebe T. Morris, 11/21/1847. all of these lived in Montgomery county, but I dont recognize the William you listed. I am a descendant from William and Rhoda Burks.

Thank you, Bill. I guess I was grasping for straws. Been looking for John Stuart/Stewart for some years. Joy

Grasping at a straw, my Stewart brick wall stops with Howard, b. 1852 in Indiana. The 1880 census of Cape Girardeau, MO shows his father born in Ohio and his mother in PA. His first born son was named William Perry Stewart. Perry is from his father-in-law, so I am guessing that William may be his father. Any straw will be grasped firmly.

I am the daughter of Frieda (Stewart) Ballard. Her father was named Stacy, and I think her mother was Adrian Stewart. I am doing all branches of my genealogy, and would like to chat with you. Feel free to contact me at becky_b1960@yahoo.com

Bill,
I know that you posted your question several years ago, but if you're still looking for descendents of the Stewarts of Montgomery County Indiana, I'm one of them. I am a descendent of Aaron S Stewart (Sr) and his wife Sarah Brockman and their son, Aaron S Stewart (Jr) and his wife Sarah Elizabeth Wells.

So, I guess that makes us distant cousins.
