Surnames: Sykes (Seicks, Sikes?)
Looking for information or a website for information on our family ancestry. We have been working on our family tree. My grandmother was Bertha Sykes (born in the US, South Haven, Van Buren, Michigan). We are only sure of her fathers name Henry Sykes (Henry could be first or middle name). We are not sure of the spelling. My great grandfather and his wife immigrated to the United States in about 1892 from Germany, from the information we have so far. We are not sure of the region he came from. His wife's name may have been Tina or Tena Sykes (spelling?). We would appreciate any information.

Try searching www.familysearch.com

Here is a marriage for a Marie Sykes, a possible sister for Bertha?
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NQQN-KT1

If you can give us a birth year and spouse for Bertha, that might help.

It looks like Marie Emma is the Emma listed here in the 1910 census. In addition, it looks like Minnie Sykes was a witness to Bertha's marriage

Marie Emma Sykes Powers died in 1912 from tuberculosis. You can search for Michigan deaths from 1897 to 1920 at
