Hello All,

I have recently acquired a copy of my family lineage back to 1856 when my Great Great Great grandfather and Grandmother came to Canada. Their names are the ones listed.

I am searching for any information on both family lines prior to their arrival here.

they came from Banbury in Oxfordshire, England.

Any help would be appreciated.

John Bonham was my great great grandfather.
His son Owen was my great grandfather.
Owen's daughter Lottie was my Grandmother.

John would also be my great great grandfather and his son Charles would be my great grandfather. The family of John emigrated to Canada in 1856 and there is a fair amount of info about their lives after that. I would be interested in learning more about the family of John before they all emigrated, his parents etc, what they did for a living. Ditto for Ann Sheriff. Hello again, ELLinspain, this is great info. More questions arise. First is in the 1841 info - there is a reference under John Bonham about "hundred" - I have never heard this reference and wonder what it is??
The person I am related to is Charles, who is 6 in the 1841 info, but he does not appear in 1851 info. He would have been 16, so is it possible he might have left home to go work on a farm or other occupation at such an age? We know that John Bonham emigrated to Canada in 1856 and Charles was with him. Would there be any emigration records from England or did people just leave without any formal records?
I am also interested in the families of John Bonham senior and Ann Sheriff if that info is available.
Is there England census info prior to 1841? Also, how would I find out info on the marriage of John and Ann?
I really appreciate the info you have sent, if fills in some of the blanks in my own info. When the Bonhams arrived in Streetsville Ontario, they supposedly ran an inn, but I cannot find any info on the specific location etc, and after a few years there, some of the family relocated to the Sarnia area, some 250 km to the west.
