henry -sister rescued at sea

henry and sister were only survivors of sea rescue my believed ancestor wm. kinney was on the rescue ship. he and henry workman became friends for life. they moved to rowan co. n.c. where they both lived for many years. i have been unable to find workmans sisters name or where she went upon arriving in n.y. the vesel that rescued them was a dutch ship. any info appreciated. jacqueline d. hall richmond va many thanks!!

Hi I have an Ebenezer B Kinney in my family born in 1834 or 1835 married to Hannah Floyd. Did not have any info any further back. Did not know of any family members (sisters)or parents. My Ebenezer Kinney in Davidson County, Nc. Could this be the same. Please reply. Need to know about his siblings and parents. Thanks N. M. Kinney.

Sergeant-Major William Henry von Eberstein
61st Infantry Regiment, North Carolina State Troops
Confederate Army

William Henry von Eberstein enlisted in the Washington Grays on April 15, 1861. He was elected the Fifth (Orderly) Sergeant on April 18, 1861. The company was first assigned to the 2nd Regiment, North Carolina Artillery and then reorganized as Company K, 10th Regiment, North Carolina Artillery. He also had previously served as the acting Ordnance Sergeant of the Confederate fort on Beacon Island. He transferred to the 61st Regiment, North Carolina State Troops in August 1862. They participated in the defense of Charleston, South Carolina in September 1862. He was severely wounded at Battery Wagner, South Carolina in August 1863. In November 1863, he went with the 61st Regiment, North Carolina State Troops to defend Petersburg, Virginia. He was again severely wounded at the Battle of Drewy's Bluff. He was honorably discharged near Richmond, Virginia on October 15, 1864.

Frances Wood Rogers recalls her mother, Essie Kinney Wood telling about Hannah Floyd Kinney. She was a tall woman with red hair. She wore a long dress covered by a long apron. In the apron pocket, she always had candy for the children when they came. Census records says Hannah was born March 1836, her tombstone say she was born March 20, 1843.

I was just in NC this week and visited the Kinney/Cox cemetary that was moved when the interstate went through the Kinney farm. I would very much be grateful for a copy of the deeds if they are still avaliable. William Kinney 1733 was my ggggggrandfather. Thanks, bill kinney
