Sagadahoc County / Pemaquid: Stevens crossing:

My ancestor, Katherine Stevens, b. 1678, dau/of Thomas Stevens and Merry Caswell of Pemaquid, was captured (with John Stevens, a boy, and Samuel Stevens) by Abenaki Indians 5 Aug 1689 and carried off to Canada where she was later married to Jacques Pacquet 1 Aug 1697 at Quebec. I am looking for information regarding her parents who lived at the crossing toward the north end of the Stevens river; at least a Thomas Stevens (perhaps her grandfather, age 80, in 1685) lived there. A Thomas Stevens was at Pemaquid in 1665, and probably settled there (came from ?) prior to that date. Would you have any information re Katherine's parents, etc.? Did they come directly from England to Maine? Are there any known ancestors, etc.?

Are you still there? Is this Thomas Stephens the son of Thomas Stephens of Pejepscot who owned land over near Brunswick. I have done A LOT of research on Thomas Stevens of Pejepscot (1621-1689)and would be pleased to correspond with anyone who has the same interests.

I am very interested in Thomas Stevens line and it is reported to link to Thomas Stevens 1730-1799 of Georgetown, Me. I am descended from Katherine Stevens of Pemaquid 1689.
I now have only Robert or James who both paid taxes at Pemaquid in 1687 as possible father for her. I would greatly
appreciate any info on Thomas that you could share.

My uncle has found information on Thomas Stevens. I believe he came from england in 1620 and can find out more information. I found out today that am the 13th generation of Stevens that has lived in Maine! Amazing!
