Is anyone researching the Brockwells ? I am trying to connect my gggrandfather EDWIN THOMAS BROCKWELL with the Brockwells of Prince George Co.
Edwin Thomas Brockwell and brother John were born in
Prince George Co. about 1812. Edwin married SARAH
(SALLIE) ANDREWS about 1829 and moved to Obion County Tenn.
Thanks for any help
Charlie-My mother was born a Brockwell. I have researched back to Lorenzo Brockwell who served in the Civil War. He
was apparently born in Prince George Co., but the trail went cold there. I have no info to add to your search but will keep your info in my files for future reference. By the way, I live in Chesapeake, VA., about an hour's drive away from Prince George. If you know anything about Lorenzo please contact me. Happy hunting. Thanks.

2nd msg re: Lorenzo Brockwell
Linda, your great grandfater was Joesph Simmons Brockwell,
could his mother, Sarah, Lorenzo's wife have been a Simmon's?
As we discussed some years ago, I am also stopped at Lorenzo and have received no new information beyond him.
Good luck and if you get anything please contact me with it.
I am trying to find some information on the Brockwell family for someone who wants to put up headstones on unmarked graves. Her line is through John Thomas Brockwell born 1868 Union City, Obion County TN and died 1905 at Lilbourn, New Madrid County, Missouri. He was married to Lou Annie Glascow and had three children, Rosa Lee, Leek and Ellis. She doesn't have Johns parents. does this fit in with your Brockwell family?
I just looked over my Brockwell records and came across my notes on the 1870 and 1880 Obion Co. census. I may have the name your were searching for.
William S. Brockwell and his wife (and 1st. cousin) Martha A. Brockwell had a son John T. Brockwell , but BOTH census show him born about 1866. Is the birth year you gave as 1868
absolutely known as correct ?
The Census are as follows ...
1880 Harris Station Dist # 1 OBION COUNTY Tn.
HH#219 William S. Brockwell 46 b. Tn f. Va. m. Va.
Martha A. Brockwell 40 b. Tx f. Va. m. Tn.
(Martha's father was John Brockwell, William's uncle who died in 1850 Her mother was Nancy Hogan who married John in Obion county Jan 16 1839 They moved to Texas the before Martha was born in 1840 Then moved back to Tn.before Martha's bro. John was born in 1843)
John T. Brockwell 14 b. Tn. f. Tn. m. Tx.
William Brockwell 11 b. Tn. f. Tn. m. Tx
Laura Brockwell 8 b. Tn. f. Tn. m. Tx.
William was the son of Edwin Thomas Brockwell and Sarah (Sallie) ANDREWS (?) Brockwell
William was a CONFEDERATE soldier in Co. I 47th. Tenn. Inf.
and was given a Confederate pension ( Both records contain interesting personal info.
The 1870 census is essentially the same info.
HH# 4 William Brockwell 32 b Tn. ( he was actually 34)
Martha Ann Brockwell 30 b. Tx
John Brockwell 4 b. Tn
William Brockwell 1 b. Tn.
Edwin Thomas is my gggf also and I am trying to connect him to the Prince George families. My line from Edwin is Isaac Robert, John M (probably named after Edwin's brother John M, b. 1816 in Va), and Joe Brockwell. Edwin's brother John M died in 1850 of smallpox(1850 Mortality Schedule).
Edwin's children were Isaac Robert, Lurana, William, and James. Years ago I copied some records in the Union City courthouse. One was an 1834 will giving his 160 acre farm and all his belongings to his children with detailed description.
My best projection based on my data is Edwin and Sarah and their son Isaac Robert and her father/brother? William Andrews and John M Brockwell went to Obion County from Virginia in 1833. Lurana was born in 1833 in Tn.
Sure would like to tie Edwin and William Andrews in with the virginia families. Do you have any data at all to help do that?
Please let me hear from you and we can exchange more data.
I didn't know Nancy's maiden name- thanks. Edwin apparently died between 1860-1870 as he wasn't in the 1870 census. Anybody know when or how?
My grandmother was a Brockwell born in Obion County, TN 1898. Her father was Robert Brockwell, son of Isaac Brockwell, son of Edwin Thomas Brockwell. My record shows them back to Prince George county, VA. E.T. would have been my g-g-g-grandfather. They were from the Harris Station area of Obion County, TN, just south of KY line.
