Hi my name is John, I am currently trying to put together a family tree. I have a pretty good start so far but I'm trying to figure out more about the the earliest Balderrama's to settle in Mexico. I have traced my family tree up to my Great Gradfather Jesus Maria Balderrama who lived in Chihuahua city in about the 1860's thru 1900's. Any information will be greatly appreciated. I also have several names of brother's and sister's to my grandfather that the family has lost touch with, I would be happy to share that information with anyone who might trying to trace the Balderrama name back to Chihuahua, Mexico.

Hi, John. I too am currently working on the Balderrama family tree. My great grandfather was Jose Balderrama from Chihuahua, Chih. I understand he came from a large family, but I have yet to locate his birth certificate or siblings. He married my great grandmother Ramona Gutierrez in the early 1800's. I have a cousin in Chihuahua City who is currently working on tracing the family as well. Let me know if these names sound familiar. I have a lot more information to share if they do?

Hi Rosa,
I read your message about the Balderrama family tree. It appears that your grandfather Jose Balderrama pre-dates my great grandfather by about one generation. I also have several relatives in Chihuahua and plan to travel there in late July. I'm hoping they have more information so that I can trace the family further back and update new additions to the family. My family lived in a area called La Colonia Rosario in Chihuahua, Chih. Mexico. The church that they attended still stands, so I hope to find information there. If I come across a Jose Balderrama I will be happy to let you know. By the way my brothers name is also Jose Balderrama. Keep me informed of your progress and who knows my someday we can make a family connection.

finally!

I was helping a friend search for her father when I "stumbled" across this web site. I thought (for fun) I would type in my maiden name to see what came up. I was amazed that there are so many Balderramas!! All my life, I never met even one outside my immediate family. It seems my father and his parents are not as proud of their heritage as I would hope them to be, and they were no help when I was trying to trace our family. I know absolutely nothing other than my father's and grandfather's names. By they way, my father is also named Jose.

Hi Deena,
Your right Balderrama is not a very common name. From what I've gathered the Balderrama name in the U.S. is mainly found in the states of Texas, New Mexico, Nevada and California. I known that my side of the family came to the U.S. in the from the 1920's thru 1950's from Chihuahua, Mexico. They settled in West Texas, New Mexico and California. I've also heard of distant relatives that settled deeper into the interior of the U.S., but they have since lost contact with our side of the family. Deena I hope you enjoy tracing your family history as much as I have and continue too.

gratitude

Hello John,
I just wanted to say thank you for the information you gave me to get me started. Its actually more helpful than any I have had up to this point. Thank you also for your encouraging words. Even though I'm sure we have no ties, I still feel like you're family! Thanks again.

Hi Rosa,
You seem to have a lot of information on the Balderrama name. My father-in-law is 96 and is living in my home. He was born in Chi, Chi. He is one of 10 children, the second oldest. His father's name is Agustin born around 1873 born in Hacienda DEl Sauz, Chi., and his mother's name is Maria Fernandez born around 1885 born in Hacienda Del Sauz.
His grandfather's name is Jorge Balderrama and grandmather's name is Rosaliz Jaquez. I should ask him for more info and previous ancestors. He speaks a lot of Mr.Luis Terraza whom his father worked for and with whom his family migrated to Juarez around 1920's. Like to hear more from you.
