Does anyone happen to know anything about her or her ancestry? I know that her father's name was Jacob, and that's about all I know. She was my husband's ancestor.

Mary, I dont know if you found what your looking for yet, but I'm pretty sure your Barbara Borer is Jacob Borror's daughter. I will have to check my records but she is definetly a ancestor of mine. If you have not found the information your looking for then let me know and I will look it up for you. Thanks Susan Borror Odle at susie@wamusa.com.

Hi All:

Does anyone have any documentation that shows Barbara Borer married my gg(etc)grandfather Jacob Helmick ? Half the sources I can find list Jacob's wife as Barbara Borer and the other half seem to list her as being Barbara Hinkle. I have to admit to being a bit perplexed but leaning towards Barbara Borer. Thanks much.

Ken

I have run into that question also and the answer is that Jacob married Barbara Borer Hinkle (Hinkle being the name of her first husband)I am still in research on the Helmick family in my line (Jacob really Jacob E.) is in my line also. I have a little information on 3 generations beyond him. to John born about 1634. I have just begun to put together a web site that follows my family for 10 generations It should take me about 2 months to complete. My line went through Jacob to Ira Ellis Helmick and on down. If you follow this line send me an email.

My info shows that Jacob was married to Barbara Hinkle.
Their daughter Sarah married Jacob Burrough ( Borer)
on 28Jul 1809. Barbara (Barbary) Burrough (Borough)
is Jacob & Sarah's daughter. She married Henry
Helmick on May 30, 1840. ????

1. The Hinkle Family records are very complete and indicate that Barbary (Barbara Hinkle) was not married to Jacob Helmick. The one historical entry used to list her as the wife gave no last name for her.
2. Families married 1st cousins very often at this time and the approximate birth date I have on Barbary (Barbara) Borer that married Jacob Helmick would put her as the grandmother of the Barbary Borer you have and that I also have information on.
3. There are more records indication a link to this being Barbary Borer than Barbary Hinkle. So in my tree I continue to list Barbara Borer with a ? because no absolute definitive written record has been found.

So I guess We all have to go with what we have been able to run down thus far till better information does surface. Information is a little iffy prior to John Helmick brother of Sarah who is my Ggggrandfather.

Thanks, Maurice, very interesting. Do you have any
info on who Jacob Borer's parents were? On that
side everything seems to stop with Jacob? Also,
any idea why Borer evolved into Burrough, Borough,
Burroughs? Burroughs is English & my grandfather,
Esker Burroughs, always said he was German.
Until I found the Borer source I was puzzled.

Sorry, I can't seem to locate anything on him either. Just like the Helmick line seems to disappear prior to Jacob A. who was Jacob Helmick's father.
Many list John Helmick as Jacob A. Helmick's father but Virginia records do no bear this out. Others say that he was related to Nicholas Helmick of Penn. but I discovered that Nicholas Helmick's Father ( not originally a Helmick) had no son by the name of Jacob.
