Gassmanns from Russia to Kansas
My GGGrrandparents came from Marienthal, Russia and settled in Kansas. I have alot of names but am missing a lot of dates and places. My GGGrandparents were Joseph Gassmann and Anna Catherine Linenberger. They came to America in 1888. Can anyone help me?

Lisa, Guess what? We are related. Joseph Gassmann Anna Catherine Linnenberger were my great-great grandparents. One of their sons was Peter Gassmann who married Agatha Dechant (my great-grandparents). I do have some information, if you would like to get back to me, I'll be checking into this site toward the end of next week. Leave a message to let me know what you might be looking for. I even have a picture of Peter Agatha, that my mother believes was taken shortly after they were married in 1886! Hope to hear from you soon. Michael

It would thrill me to make a family connection. Willima F. Gassman came from Teigenhoff, Germany in approx. 1905-06. He married Johanna Hargot in Michigan, where I was born. He is my grandfather and I know he had several brothers and sisters. Any help would be appreciated.

Joan, Unfortunately, I do not have your grandfather listed in any of my files. Who knows, he could be related, I just may not have enough information. Keep on searching!! Lisa

I am looking for the parents and ancestors of Reuben Gassman b.3/7/1865,d. 5/14/1948. He married Harriet Stapleton in Wisconsin. Any information would be appreciated. I am having considerable trouble finding anything about him. It is possible thaat he had a differnet birth name. Thanks.

I have a copy of an article from the Fox Lake, Dodge Co., WI newspaper dated November 18, 1892, saying that Miss Hattie Stapleton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Stapleton of Fox Lake would be married on Tuesday, Nov. 22, to Mr. R. Gassman of Fifield, WI in St. Mary's Church. His parents were Andre Gassman and Hannah Sornson, but I don't have the source noted. I don't have birth or death dates of Reuben, either. I do know they had two children Sidney and Bernadine.

To Margo Stapleton, Wow! I have been searching for some time with no results. Reuben Gassman's obituary lists his birthplace as Weyauwega, Wisconsin. However, when I tried to access his birth certificate, they could find no record for that area for him. This has been a challenge. Any suggestions regrding information about Andre and Hannah Sornson? Thanks for your help!
