I'm tracing the following Kennell Bloodline.
My grandfather was Merle Edward Kennell, b:8/25/1920, d:1999,
J. Hobart Kennell(father of Merle), b:10/25/1896, m:? Erma Edna Lepley, d: 2/1975
If you can help me trace this bloodline back any further, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark, I don't have much on the Kennells yet, but I am sure that there is a connection to your MD/PA Kennells and those related to my husband. His mother was Lillian Ann Kennell, dau. of Austin C. Kennell Sr., born in Cumberland, MD. There were 3 other girls and a son, Austin Jr, who is still living. I have heard from Austin Jr's daughter in law and if she has anything pertaining to your branch, I'll let you know. Good Luck.

Hi Di,

Thanks for the help. I would be interested in anything you might find. I will be visiting(in a month) my grandmother, who was married and divorced to the late Merle Kennell. Her name is Pauline Lee(goes by her maiden name). She has told me that she can take ma a generation or two back in the bloodline. I'll let you know what I find out.

Mark, since my last reply to you I have found a ton of stuff on the Kennel/Kennell lineage. I show that a Jessie Kennell 1843-
1912 married an Elenora Lepley 1854 - ?., in Somerset Co. PA. Jessie is the son of Samuel Elizabeth Reiber Kennell who were the parents of a direct ancestor (Jonathan J. Kennell) of my husband. Anyway, as you probably know the same families (such as Kennell/Lepley) would marry several times, so I am of the opinion that this is the same line. However, I do not show a J. Hobart Kennell, but he might be listed just by his first name. Contact me direct and I will be happy to share what I have. Do you have FTM?

Hi Kim I looked on my FTM and I have a TON of stuff on your line. My husband is from Kennel/Kennell ancestors and I had found where some where listed as Kendall. Have your William. I have Boone listed as Bone, but wondered about it at the time...thought it might be Boone. Contact me at cardi11647@aol.com.

Hi! I'll get into this a little better soon. I'm going to be off for a month so I'll have some time. All of this is pretty neat. Almost all of my relatives live in Somerset County. My father was Gerald E. Kendall(1930-1982). He had a twin who died soon after birth and was named Hobart. My Uncle Sam lives on Main St. in Somerset and he could probably give me more information on things.

Hi Di,

I had the chance to talk to my father's Aunt(Helen Kennell). She was able to fill in the generations, I was missing.
My line goes as follows:
Mark Edward Kennell(B1967-??)Wife: Julie Kathryn Siford
Edward Lee Kennell(B1944-??), Wife: Nan Louise Sheffer
Merle Edward Kennell((1920-1999, Wife: Pauline Wilma Lee
James Hobart Kennell(1896-1975), Wife:Erma Edna Lepley(She was adopted from an Emerick family)
Perry Franklin Kennell(1861-1942, Wife: Susanna Emerick
Andrew Jackson Kennell(1835-1926, Wife: Mary Ellen Baughman
Christian Kennell, Sr(1785-1853)Unbelievablly he fathered his last child when he was 50. His wife Hannah Leidig was 42.
Peter Kennell(1729-1800)Unbelievablly he fathered his last child when he was 61. His wife Catherine Nelig was 44(?).
Joseph Kennell(1700-??)Wife: Sarah ?, Joseph came over on Brothers Ship into Philadelphia(9/16/1751?), Born in Palatine, Germany

I also linked into a USGenWeb list(contributed by Carol Hepburn(Copyrighted 1998)), that lists generations back to Joseph Kennell(B1700-??)
The list is incomplete, for it does not list James Hobart Kennell. I will try to fill the gaps with the info, I recieved from Helen Kennell.
I'm currently loading the entire list into FTM, and I'm up to 800 people. I should have about 1100 when I'm finished. 75% is from the Kennell Line, the other 25% is Rizer, Lee, etc.

If you are interested in any of this info., please contact me direct.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark, thanks for your reply. I, too, had found all the Kennells listed by Carol Hepburn and delighted to find my husband's ancestors among them. There were so many that it took me awhile to sort them out, esp. since so many of them had the same given names. I also noticed a lot of their spouses had the same surnames, such as Lepley, Leidig. I will keep my eyes open for a James Hobart Kennell. I'm sure that you noticed the original spelling only had one "L" - Kennel. It's interesting to follow the lineage and see when it changed. Keep in touch, Cuz!
