Hello, cousin! Ed McClure (Joseph Edgar) was my grandfather, so David Crockett (called Crock) was my uncle. Grandad McClure was married twice - Lou Hudnall, his first wife, died in 1918. They had 8 children, a couple of whom were grown (or close to it) when she died. He married my grandmother, Ella Spinks, in Dec of 1920, and they had 11 children. Doug, my Daddy, is one of the middle kids of the second bunch.
Are you one of Sybil's daughters? I know all of Lois's kids, because we are about the same age and went to the same schools. I would definitely like to swap some family information, and I'd especially like to fill in more on some of my uncles' and aunts' descendants.
Do you have a genealogy program you use? I can make a GEDCOM file to send you with all the McClure (McCluer) stuff. The old McClures spelled the name McCluer, up until Grandad (Ed) and his brother John Bryan (Bud) began spelling it McClure. I also have a good collection of stories about some of the older ones. They're not written down yet, but I am in Kuwait for several more months, so I'll make an effort to get them on electrons so I can share them.
I have posted what I have on the Ancestry.com World Family Tree, at Rootsweb, and on the LDS Family History database (www.familysearch.org
). It is also on MyTrees.com with family group access. The account number is 113270 and the family password is Catahoula. I need to update a few births and deaths on the MyTrees database. Most of the databases don't show names for those who are living.
We have a family reunion the Sunday before Labor Day every year. We meet in the Cafeteria at Block High School in Jonesville and have a pretty good time. We used to meet out at different homes, but the school is a good central air-conditioned place.
Please send me an email and I'll send you what I have.
