Had a short conversation with my uncle TUIATUA TUPUA TAMASESE EFI in April 2000 regarding our family history and he mentioned that we had some part Niue in our family line. I would like to get more info regarding our family tree and the Niue part of the family. My great grandmother~MEAFOU~ is one of ~TUPUA TAMASESE MEAOLE'S~ twin sisterthe other sister is ~MEATUAI~ would like to get any information regarding our family that is from: Malaeloa, Fagatogo, and Apia. My father ~AEMALEMALO SASAE PAOGOFIE~died and never spoke much about his mothers ~LEUTA ANOAI~family from Apia Samoa or Am. Samoa. I only know 1/2 of my grandfathers side, the late Senator (PAOGOFIE SASAE) family (The PAOGOFIES from PAVAIAI) any help is appreciated from both side please!!!

Hi Edwin, sorry it took so long reply. I am Ae's daughter (Jane). I was down there for aunty Savaligas funeral. My sister Suluoo was at the burial, but I had to work that day. Anyway, if I remember you correctly, the last time I saw you was when your family were all staying out here in Orange county at the time. Well, as for the Paogofie side, thats my dads father. Grandma Leuta is his mother, but his father was Sasa'e Paogofie (from Pavaiai). Now as for the Tamasese's thats my great grandmothers maiden name Meafou Tamasese, and thats your great great grandmother. I've learned alot about grandma Leutas side of the family. Grandma Leutas mother name is Meafou Tamasese, she had a twin sister name Meatuai Tamasese, but we have family that are still in Tuaefu, Upolu. Tuiatua Tupua Tamasese Efi, which I've already met and spoken to. Uncle Kolai has already met him also. Grandma Leuta still have brothers and sisters who live in NZ, they share the same mother but different father. I found out that great grandmother Meafou was married twice. The first husband is from Am. Samoa which is where our family comes from, but the Niue side is from great grandma Meafous second marriage was to Pavihi, that is uncle Taele's father. Uncle Taele is grandma Leutas half brother who resides in Falelatai (not sure of the spelling) and NZ. So I hope this helps out and explains who the Tamasese is, that is my great grandmothers maiden name, and your great great grandmother. Aunty Meafou (thats my dads sister) lives out here in Vista, she's about a 10 minute drive from my home. I'm glad to hear from you Edwin, I remember you were grandma little (big) baby at the time I last saw you! Take care and email me at the email address: Love you and take care !
Love your cousin, Jane Paogofie Ausage

Hello i was searching this site under my husbands name and found this post. Well let introduce myself. My maiden name is Nini Meaole, my belated fathers name is George Siosi Meaole, his belated fathers name is Meaole Silinga. My father was raised in Amanave, A. Samoa. When my grandfather passed away, contact amongst the family was lost. I was just wondering if you were related to me or not. The last name is rare, all the Meaoles that i do know of are related somehow. But i'll ask my dads brother if he knows Tupua Meaole. Take care

hi there,
i am just wandering which, Tamasese it was that was shot, in the mau movement...?

On our family tree from Falelatai, it mentions two Tamasese's that married one of the ladies from our family in Falelatai.

On our notes it says that Alaisala whose father was Maota of the Anae family, she married Tupua Tamasese Lealofi, and had Anae Tupua Tamasese that was the so called tu'umalo.

Im collecting as much information as i can, from Alaisala and Tupua Tamasese Lealofi's descendants.

thanx

Talofa/Hello:

Do you know which island? Savai'i? Upolu? Years?

Is TAMASESE a matai title in the aiga/Family? Or your great-grandmother's married name? If so, do you know any other surnames that she may have gone by?

No listings for Meafou TAMASESE according to my sources.

Do you know her spouse's name? children?
....

Manuia/Regards,
--Manaia

All i know is that meafou was born to a tamasese father. she married 'Pavihi' who was from niue. She moved to niue and had 6 children (not too sure about this number),but one of whom is my grandmother meafou amanaki pavihi. my grandmother doesn't talk about her family history much so i thought i'd try track it down for myself.

thank you for the reply though much appreciated.
