Hi, This is probably a real stretch, but my great grandmother was Margaret Frances Joy, b. 11-05-1843, Mt Pleasent, Ia. She was committed to the insane asylum in Peublo, Co when she was 37. She had cronic mania and remained hospitalized until her death in 1914. My grandfather was only 9 when she was committed, so he didn't know a lot about her past. I have no other info on her, but would love to connect her to family. The hospital records show she was born in Ohio, so we aren't real sure about that. She was born around the same time as your people, so maybe a cousin???
Any help would be appreciated. Jule

You're right, it is a stretch. William Joy came with his family to Iowa in 1856 from western New York. The Joys from Ohio may be relatives, but they are distant if so.

If you know your great-grandmother's husband's name and their children's names, you should be able to find them in the 1880 census.
