How is it that some of the reports on Micajah Reeder,
father of Noah Mkcajah/McCager Reeder, is shown to have Judith Rowland as his wife on some things, and Dorcas LeBlond or DeBlond shown as his wife on other things?
Does anyone know which is correct.
Dorcas LeBlond is shown as the mother of Noah Micajah
Reeder and Noah Micajah Reeder was my Great, Great, Great Grandfather so I'd really like to know which is correct.

I don't have an answer for the question posed but I would like to check on the Micajah Reeder you have. Is he any chance from Oregon? I have a Micajah Reeder son of Corydon Reeder. He had a brother, Sylvester, that my wife is descended from. Other siblings may have included Leonidas, Priscilla, Andrew and Gamalion all born between 1853-1862.

Thanks, Les, for telling me of Linda's answer to my query.
Haven't been paying much attention lately so it slipped
by me.
The Principal for many years at Corona Elementary School
in Ontario, California was Marvin Tate -- have no idea if
he's any kin of yours, but thought I'd ask anyway. Was a
minister before becoming a Principal.

Seems there is a lot confusing info on the identities of Micajah and Noah Reeder's wives. I have not yet found any formal documentation (court records or family bibles) on the marriages and the surname LeBlond/LeBlonde keeps popping up, but most seem to indicate Micajah's wife was Judith Roland/Rowland and their son Noah's wife was Dorcas/Dorcus Blair.

I did find the 1850 Arkansas census page in which Dorcas G. Reeder is listed with children living near her son Noah W. (Webster) Reeder and his wife and family. In 1860 she is in Bosque County TX, where she died 23 Jun 1887 and was buried at the Olde Cem, Mills Valley, TX.

I just recently got into this line because it's in my wife's ancestry and I would like to clear up the confusion through documentation so it is correct in my database.

My Tate ancestors are from SC, TN, and AL. California was too far to walk.

Hi Les,
To the best of my knowledge, the Dorcas buried where
you stipulated is Dorcas (Blair) Reeder, the daughter-in-law
of Micajah Reeder, wife of Noah Reeder and Mom of
Noah Webster Reeder, she was my three greats Grandmother.

I think you're right, but that's my own personal opinion.
I think that Judith Roland/Rowland was Micajah's wife
that gave birth to all their children -- it's possible that he
married Dorcus LeBlonde at a later time. Sadly, no one has found
proof of either thing to the satisfaction to the nth degree
of anyone.
I"ll just ignore it and claim Judith as the wife of Micajah
and the mother of his children if you willl. (My kin don't
really care if I'm right or not -- except for two of the male
cousins -- most just want to know that I have it and that satisfies
them completely.

You will also note that Elizabeth Blair, her mother, is also living with her and the children in the 1850 Washington Co, AR census. I presume Elizabeth died between 1851-1859 but do not have an exact date. You can also trace the Blair family surname with the Reeder family through their wanderings.

The following was transcribed from the U.S. Government publication,
"Territorial Papers - Arkansas 1819-1825" pages 789-874, Part Seven,
"Executive Register for the Arkansas Territory, 1819-1836".
Comm. Date Surname, Given Name County-Township Commission-Remarks
1830 Apr 11 Blair, John C. Washington Magistrate
1831 Nov 5 Blair, John C. Washington Magistrate
1833 Nov 12 Blair, John C. Washington Magistrate
1835 Oct 27 Blair, John C. Washington Magistrate
1819 Sep 1 Blair, William P. Clarke Clerk-Resigned

None of the above are, however, known children of William and Elizabeth.

I'm sticking with Judith Rowland as Micajah's wife until
someone can actually tell me why the LeBlonde name keeps
getting mentioned. I know that "50,000 Frenchmen CAN be
wrong", but Judith is the most mentioned. I do not believe
that you'll find actual proof of any of those marriages, including the marriage of Noah M. Reeder to Dorcas G.(Green) Blair unless someone suddently discovers their
family Bibles. In Norway Mills, Texas (later called Reeder
Mills, and later changed yet again) Dorcas G. (Blair) Reeder
was living either with or near her son Alvin Reeder.
I'm a direct descendant of both the Reeder and West families,
both lines of genealogy give Judith Rowland as Macajah's
wife and Dorcas G. Blair as Noah M.'s wife.
That's all I can tell you!
