Abraham Enyard TITUS died at 9:15 Thursday morning at the home of his son, Virgil E. TITUS, and Mrs. TITUS, in Lawson, Missouri. He was a farmer and lived alone on his farm in the Union community but had been in Lawson painting, suffering a stroke the day before his death, and being taken to the home of his son.
He was 60 years, 9 months and 28 days of age at the time of his death. He was born near Lawson September 15, 1883, the son of the late Abraham and Elizabeth CLEVENGER TITUS. He spent his entire life of 60 years in this community. December 20, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Amanda Belle HARTMAN, who died December 12, 1926.
He was a member of the Christian Union Church.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Fern E. JESSE and Mrs. Myrtle E. HOLT of Excelsior Springs, Mrs. Ruby A. SEE of Cameron, Illinois, and Mrs. Gladys H. WILLIAMS of Miami, Oklahoma; two sons, Virgil E. TITUS of Lawson and PFC. Paul E. TITUS of the U.S. Army, Camp Kilmer, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Mrs. Eva Nelle SWAFFORD of Excelsior Springs, Richard, Donald and J. L. SEE of Cameron, Illinois, Randy and Lanny JESSE of Excelsior Springs; one great-grandchild, Robert Charles SWAFFORD of Excelsior Springs, and many other relatives and friends. One child died in infancy.
The funeral services were held at the Union Church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. C. Donaghue of Polo, Missouri and Rev. Austin Henry, pastor of the Lawson Methodist Church. Music was furnished by a choir, with Mrs. Raymond Grove at the piano.
The pallbearers were A. C. James, Emil Nolker, Oscar Hankins, Charles Kinder, Shorty Stockwell, and Judge W. C. Arrowood. Burial was in the Union Cemetery.
The funeral arrangements were in charge of the Jarman-Prichard Funeral Home, Lawson, Missouri.
