Jill,
John Joseph Bowler was my great grandfather and he was born in Glenflesk Co.Kerry and his
parents were William Bowler and Mary Sullivan both of Glenflesk.Mary Magdalen Magarra
(probably a variant of McGarry) was also born in Ireland, probably in Co.Limerick or Co.Clare.
Both emigrated from Ireland ca 1850 and met and married in Boston. Their son Eugene(Gene)
was my grandfather and he was the brother of Thomas. The other Bowler children were William
(Bill),John,Charles,Peter,Nellie(Ellen),Minnie(Mary),Annie,Hortense(Hortie),and James who died
at 18 months of age. They were parishioners at Holy Family Church in Rockland,MA and most
of them are buried in St.Patrick Cemetery in Rockland.
Bowler is essentially a Co.Kerry surname but it is also found in counties Cork and Limerick.
It was originally the Norman LeFougheler and they were part of the FitzGerald/Fitzmaurice
Geraldines(Family).Ballybowler is located on the Dingle Peninsular.
Harriet Elizabeth Langley was my grandmother. Her mother was Irish and her father was English.
