A town named Gangloff?

In the Helena (MT) Indepndent of Dec. 31, 1934, I came across a mention of a "little village of Gangloff 25 miles from the boarder." The traveler was going from Germany to Paris and was picked up in Germany. I assume the village is in France. Anyone ever hear of it?

Hi Deborah!

Yes, there is indeed a village of Gangloff - and is it ever tiny! It took about 10 minutes to walk from one end of the village to the other when I was there last Fall.

The village is in Germany, in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, near Bad Kreuznach. The area of Germany in which it lies has been part of both France and Germany over the centuries - it is the Alsace region. I have photos that I could email if you are interested.

Yes,
It has been mentioned in my family lore that there is/was a
town named gangloff in France.
In a breakup of the family some went to france but my ancestor, being a ship's captain running between hamburg and
new york, married a german passenger girl and settled in glouster Mass.

Hi, I was in a book my Aunt put together about my decendants and found out that some of my decendants went by Gangloff and some by Gongloff. I was born in PA now living in NC with my 2 sisters. We are decendants of George Gangloff son of George Gangloff of Wurtemburg. I don't know if you have any information on this, but if you do please e-mail. Thank You ,Marge Purcell

I have even gone to Schuykill, PA and have been to some of the grave sites. I'd be interested in talking to any whom might have some info on the family.

Hi Marge,
My grandmother was Veronica Gongloff, daughter of Francis G. Gongloff, of Patton, PA, He was the son of John and Sarah Gongloff of Schukyllville, PA. Whose parents as you know was George and Dorothea.I certainly would be interested in seeing the information that your Great Uncle Grant put together. It has been very difficult finding information on the family. All I ever had was the Family history acording to Judge Gongloff. Hope to talk soon. either here or you can e-mail me.

Hi Sharon, It seems that my Grandfather(Milton Gongloff) and your Great Grandfather (Francis Gongloff)were cousins. My Great Uncle Grant put together a copy of pages from George Edward Gangloff Schuylkill Haven PA. It seems that Francis's father Frank and Grant's father Charles were brothers. The rest of what I have is on Charles and Mary's children Grant, Charles, Milton(my Grandfather) and Joseph. If you are intested in what I have let me know. I can give you my e-mail .

I'm at work right now, but I'll try and get that for you. I remember staying at my greatuncle Grant's in Nanty Glo when I was little. He was raising his granddaughter Linda Gongloff at the time. I give you all I have.
